christerd Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 (edited) After a long hunt I got this cross in the mailbox today a Liberty Cross III class 1918 , not easy to find , only 973 pieces awarded , and of them I think less than 700 to Finnish soldiers ( 45 to Swedish and 200 ? to Germans.) I got right now 200 + names in my database so I have some more to go This come from Finland , and looking at the mounting I´m quite sure it was awarded to an Finnish Officer. Now ´m I looking for a 4th class non combat 1918 and the rarest of all 1918 crosses , the ones with Red Cross $$$$$$ Christer Edited March 20, 2014 by christerd
Claudius Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Nice one Christer! A great cross with period ribbon. And I like the pin on the back too.

Peter J Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Kevin, now that's a peroid ribbon if I'm not mistaken. I believe the rosette was added by regulation a few years after the war in 1918,
christerd Posted March 22, 2014 Author Posted March 22, 2014 That´s a true rare cross Kev ! Just wonderful, one of only 250 ever made , so I have at least 249 still out there to look for Super Nice ! Christer

christerd Posted June 2, 2014 Author Posted June 2, 2014 Sometimes you wish you had a lot of money lying around ..... ( probably always ) This Finnish Liberty Cross 1st class without swords was sold in Sweden in April for ........ 2300 Euro And few so few where ever awarded and this cross was given to Johan Mannerheim ! Gustaf Mannerheims brother. at this price it was a steal I dream on ........
Mikko13 Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Hello Christer, that is a nice one. I haven't had an auction on my screen in April. Was it sold at Swedish ebay? Greetings Mikko
Mikko13 Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Hello Christer, I found it - it was an auction in Sweden...but in 2012... http://www.probusauktioner.se/auktion/objectWinInfo.asp?objektnr=558&auktionsnamn=Auktion%2019%20den%205%20november%202012 Never miss a probusauktioner-auction
christerd Posted June 2, 2014 Author Posted June 2, 2014 Youré right Mikko , I mixed up two auctions , this one went in Auction 19 , April was Auction 22. Even two years ago it was a super price for a object like that. Almost like an Knights Cross with swords oakleaves and diamonds Christer
