Jock Auld Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 Guys, I recently bought a Bundswehr Lt Col's jacket (in another post), the bloke had some police jackets that were very similar in cut to WW2 jackets in general. The odd thing for me was they were blue, not the greenish colours you would normaly encounter? Would they be of interest to anyone as I think he had €15 on each, there were two of them with some sort of arm badge? I can take some pictures next time if anyone is interested. cheers Jock
Chris Boonzaier Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 Hi, The Bundespolzei changed to Blue uniforms a few years ago, although it was not overnight... I think they could wear out the old green stuff, maybe some of them still have a bit of green about....
Jock Auld Posted June 16, 2014 Author Posted June 16, 2014 Chris, Sorry, I didn't make myself clear, you normally find the Green stuff being sold as surplus but these jackets look 50s in manufacture, material and style. I shall pick them up if I can get him down to €20. All of our local 'coppers' are in there shiny new blue rig now and I haven't seen a green car for a while either! Jock
Tony Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Are you sure they aren't old VoPo jackets? Although now I think about it they may have been greyish/green. Tony
Jock Auld Posted June 17, 2014 Author Posted June 17, 2014 I shall pick them up at the eariest oppertunity, a picture paints a 1000 words. Jock
Mervyn Mitton Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 Get some good photos - one of the categories in the 2014 Photo Comp. will be Police. Mervyn
Craig Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 I was in Berlin this past November and saw some officers in green but mostly blue. Have to say I'm at traditionalist and prefer the green.
The Prussian Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 (edited) Well, the blue is a modern trend, because the americans wear blue too. And because of Germany is the 51st star in the stars´n stripes, our police has to wear blue too... I don´t like it. The green was a traditionally colour, came out after the great war, when the first police units wore the green Jäger-Uniforms. In order of the americanizing in Germany, the new police cars just have got a new siren, like the american ones. Edited June 20, 2014 by The Prussian
Tony Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 (edited) The 7th one down here http://www.dhd24.com/extra2/verkaufen-kaufen/48375/polizei-uniform.html is called a 1970s police jacket. And here's one which is just called an old style police jacket http://www.ebay.de/itm/Polizei-Niedersachsen-Jacke-alte-Art-Meister-Groesse-48-/300437083248?nma=true&si=0Mfz7Xu57oWFt2A3Isbrn9ka1kQ%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 Tony Edited June 22, 2014 by Tony
Jock Auld Posted June 22, 2014 Author Posted June 22, 2014 Tony, So it would seem they have already been blue at some point. Jock
Gordon Craig Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Jock, Yes there were some states whose police wore blue uniforms after the end of WWII. An obvious statement considering the Niedersachsen uniforms you have pictured above. They are probably late 50s early 60s as you have guessed above. Berlin wore blue for many years and only went to green when police uniforms were standardized to the same colour. Regards, Gordon
Milpol Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 I served in Germany at the end of the 60's in the State of Lower Saxony, from where the jackets come from, and this was the uniform they wore.
