nesredep Posted October 16, 2014 Author Posted October 16, 2014 Hello! The last photo. Best regards Morten.
J Temple-West Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Morning, Morten... A very nice set of photo's you have there...only wish we knew what was being awarded. The clearest shot of an award is the one in post # 2, and my first thought was; 22nd March 1939 return of Memel Commemorative medal. But, alas, not clear enough to confirm.
Brian R Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Cool pictures. I think its a ceremony for presentation of the War Merit Medal.
Norm F Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 Yes, very interesting photos. Hard to say about which medal? Best regards, ---Norm
nesredep Posted October 19, 2014 Author Posted October 19, 2014 Hello All! Thanks for interest and comment on this thread! Have worked a bit with the photos on the scanner, but i do not think i get the most important details. Best regards,Morten.
nesredep Posted October 19, 2014 Author Posted October 19, 2014 Hi! And this is the last. Regards Morten.
Brian R Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 Norm - I think you are right. Part of my guess was related to the ribbons the other officers have. It seems that there is one officer wearing the ribbon for the 1939 EK2 and another for the War Merit Cross. Since these weren't in existence until after the war started, I figured it was a later ceremony. However, the Memel medal was awarded until December 1940, so it is quite possible. Also, the first recipient is quietly likely holding his award document in his left hand. I would lean towards it being a large Memel citation.
LarryT Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 There appears to be a DAF (Deutsche Arbeitsfront) flag and men in DAF uniforms standing in line in the background. Am I correct? Cheers, Larry
