Leuchtturm
Hi James, many thanks for the anwser, the air force cross is the same copy as the flying cross. How can I check if the other medals are original? Is there any chance taht this group is made in the 60´s for veterans? Best wishes and thanks Chris
Mervyn Mitton
Chris - I would say two possibilities. 1. Made-up for use by a veteran or, 2. A fake set. Since none have naming I doubt if you will ever know for sure. Mervyn
Paul R
It still displays nicely.

922F
Are the Crosses silver? Some old copies were made in silver and so marked. Edited February 2, 2015 by 922F
922F
Looks like the Air Crew Europe Star is a copy: Note difference in George VI monogram numeral [there should be no break at the top of "VI" -- compare with 39/45 Star]. See http://www.rogersstudy.co.uk/medals/ww2_stars/identifying_fakes/identifying_fakes.html for more details. Would expect that 39/45 Star, Defense & War medals, given relative availability/cost and their appearance, are genuine.
peter monahan
How many men would have a double qualification for the DFC and AFC? It certainly wouldn't give you an ID, but it might point to possible previous owners, assuming that its not a complete mock-up put together by a collector or Wally. Chris, do you have any information at all as to where it came from? Peter
