Peter BL Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 Also Peter, I have never seen a real 1st U-Flottille style pin in red. The accepted originals are blue. I have seen a lot of fakes in red. Here's mine for comparison. Erik Hi Erik..I think this badge represents a single boat- U247. I'd like to have a closer look at the enamelling.
Erik Krogh Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 Peter - do you have any evidence that U-247 used a red badge? I'd really be interested. Thanks, Erik
Erik Krogh Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 Diesel room showing the U-48 (or other boats such as U-564 who used the black cat emblem) traditions badge in wear.
Peter BL Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 (edited) HI Erik...Only what the dealer has stated. Hogel's book shows this type but that could just as easily be the 1st Flotilla emblem. Point taken...I'll avoid this one I think. Great pic BTW....I'm still trying to find a period pic to prove this one Edited October 29, 2011 by Peter Baillie
Peter BL Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 (edited) Couple of new additions to the emblem collection...opinions as always appreciated. U-293 Edited November 19, 2011 by Peter Baillie

Peter BL Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 (edited) And finally the Emblem for U-3024 (not the 1st U-Flott ) Edited February 27, 2012 by Peter Baillie
Wood Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 (edited) Is this one? Its brass. Regards, Pete Edited November 19, 2011 by Wood
Peter BL Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 Hi Pete...difficult to say. I had a flick through Georg Hogel's book and came up with these two. I'd say U-1004 stands a better chance especially when you read the entry but without provenence there's no way of knowing. Hope this helps...Peter
Wood Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 Thanks for that Peter (good name), All I can remember is that it came with 2 luftwaffe pith helmet eagles! and another (british) badge, and I thought at the time it may be one. Regards, Pete Hm, I'm not even sure where I put it now.
Odulf Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 Gents, I've asked a question which should be in this forum. Would you be kind enough to have a look? http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/topic/52123-help-needed-to-identify-u-boat-cap-badge/page__fromsearch__1
Martin W Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 Hi Odulf, nice photo's. It looks like they might be wearing the "Lighthouse" emblem of the U-109.? Regards,Martin.

Erik Krogh Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Traditions badge for the 24th U-Flotilla and U-748 (ex Italian S5). Just picked this up at the SOS in Louisville KY over the weekend. No provenance except for the story: the seller is an old-time collector from Chicago who used to hang around with Hans Goebler (U-505). Purportedly this badge came from one of Hans' friends. Not much to go on, but the construction looks reasonably period so I took a chance.
Erik Krogh Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Reverse of Traditions badge for the 24th U-Flotilla and U-748.
Peter BL Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Hi Erik...Looks good. Certainly stands a chance.
dedehansen Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 Badge of U29 under Oberleutnant zur See Heinrich Hasenschar CO 09.41 - 05.42 Cheers Andreas
Peter BL Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 (edited) Hi Andreas..interesting piece. Not the emblem Hogel show's in his book for U-29. That's not to say it isn't period, any providence on this one and can we see a bigger pic or scan of the emblem. KR.....Peter Edited March 10, 2012 by Peter Baillie
dedehansen Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 and now the reverse side All I can tell to this piece is, that I got it 1987 from private with an iron cross and an U-Boot Kriegsabzeichen Cheers Andreas
JSlavick Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 Fellow Researchers: This one has me stumped. I've looked quite a bit. I am hoping someone will be able to recognize this tradition badge. Thanks for any assistance. Joe
Martin W Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 Hey Martin.....I managed to find one Congratulations Peter. A nice complete example too. Great photo Joe. Regards,Martin.
dedehansen Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Hi Pete...difficult to say. I had a flick through Georg Hogel's book and came up with these two. I have got a pictureframe with a collage of his awards and two cap emblems. One is the the cap emblem of U 1004 and it is quite different from the shown one. Greatings Andreas
