Is there any difference between the Blue hats as used by Bavarians/Prussians/Saxons etc other than the cockade )

As far as I know, not. Differences cpuld be possible by different manufacturers

The Bavarian Army actually used a lighter shade of blue than that of Prussia, Saxony,and the other German States. A very good online  uniform resource is The Kaiser's Bunker.

Ahh, yes, of course, the colour... Bavarians had a brighter blue... here we go:

Depends on the period, I think Andy is showing an early plate, I see no specific difference in the plates I have on file kindly sent to me by Chip.

I presume you are referring to the Bavarian Leibgarde der Hartschiere?  Here is my peaked cap for this very small unit; the only one I have ever seen.

A very nice officer's cap, but the top cockade should have a red center, correct for the Reichskokarde, seen on all caps.  The silver & black lower kokarde is correct for Prussian officers.

Here is some of mine....I will let the colours tell  their own story but the Bavarian appears to be lighter

Hello : The colour of the peacetime bavarian infantry uniforms was lichtblau , light blue ; jaegers (rifles ) also used light blue . The two heavy cavalry regiments , the generals and staff officers used light blue too . Artillery , Pioneers ,Train , Doctors and others used dark blue . the shade of the light blue varies but tended to  the one of the bavarian flag .
