hucks216 Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 (edited) Nice photo. I wonder what the War Badge is that we can just see the top of - U-Boat or Aux.Cruiser maybe? Edited March 25, 2016 by hucks216
LarryT Posted March 25, 2016 Author Posted March 25, 2016 It is a pity that his arm is blocking the view of the badge on his tunic. Writing on the back of the photo shows that it was developed by a Photo-Haus in Westerland-Sylt. This was an island fortress and as far as I know there wasn't a naval presence there. Photo taken while on leave perhaps? Here is the back of the photo. Cheers, Larry

LarryT Posted March 31, 2016 Author Posted March 31, 2016 That is a great photo. Thanks for showing it here. I really like photos showing KM trade and specialty patches in wear. Maybe a thread should be started showing the different types being worn. Cheers, Larry

Cheers, Larry I have changed the thread title to promote this idea. It will be interesting to see the various examples. I have this one in a Soldbuch showing a sailor on the Tirpitz. And this one showing a sailor from 5.Raumbootsflottille. Edited April 1, 2016 by hucks216

Odulf Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 Hi Morten, your photo was made in Breda, in Holland. In the Chassé Army Barracks, the 14th Schiffsstammabteilung (note the banner on the trumpet!) was housed until 1944. This photo is one of a series which was permanent for sale in the canteen-shop, and these are frequently found in albums and boxes of German sailors and staff who were stationed in Breda. Here are two more from the same series.
