    Hi,

Does anyone know whether this KM badge is authentic. Looks to be hand embroidered.

    All comments appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Larry

Thanks guys. Was not sure about it's authenticity. Saw it for sale a few weeks ago, but now it's gone. Real early piece and not really what I'm collecting.

    Cheers,

    Larry

    Thanks Morten and PREM.:)

There are a lot more people out there collecting KM trade and specialty patches than when I first started collecting them.

There is such a large variety to collect and now it is very hard to find the rarer ones. They are also becoming more expensive as well.

Insignia such as the nice Unterwasserhorcher patch photo posted by Morten are hard to find as well.

There are a few of the rarer patch photos posted in the "Kriegsmarine Specialty Badges in Wear" thread.

By the way, I posted the the Unterwasserhorcher patch upside down.

I am concentrating on collecting cloth versions only.

I would like to see what others have in their collections. Please post them here.

My collection as it stands at the moment:

    Cheers,

    Larry

I read on the other forum, that you have to look for post war period repros, but how true is that? Does anyone know anything about it? Front usually looks the same on them, but the rear side, has variety of finishes, and I think thats how these patches and in general, are definied as either genuine, or not. They come with stamps, or without. Some are very cheap for couple Euro, but there are ones that are priced for hundrets of Euro, even thousands.

I have only 3, and might get more of the common ones, but thats it. I wish I could get the metal ones, in pristine condition.

    Hi,

Post war copies are easy to spot if you know what to look for. Invest in a good reference book (there are a few good ones out there)

to increase your knowledge. Genuine badges come with a variety of backings so you can't always tell good from bad by that.

Buy from reputable dealers eg Weitze, The Collectors Guild to name a couple.

There are a few very nice metal insignia patches for sale at the moment just Google for them.

BTW nice patches you have collected.

    Cheers,

    Larry

    Hi Morten,

    Thank you.

Wow, very nice Kadett patches for the field-gray uniform. They are also hard to find, especially in very good condition as your patches are.

    Cheers,

    Larry
