Bucky01 Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 Could you tell me if this Hungarian Order of Saint Stephen real or not All the best Bucky
tifes Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 Dear Bucky, you probably mean whether the decoration is original piece (pre-1918, Monarchy time period) or collector´s copy. The later is true. It´s just collector´s copy, made after 1945. Sorry if this answer didn't please you. Regards, t.
Elmar Lang Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 (edited) I agree, this is a later (although good quality) copy, most probably made by Rothe, Vienna. More, an award piece of the Order of St. Stephen should always be made of gold. As a matter of interest, I hereby post three pieces from my collection: a very early, austrian-made gold réduction; a "Kleinkreuz" in gold from the late 19th Century and a mid 19th Century, gilt silver, privately made "Kleinkreuz". Best wishes, E.L. Edited September 5, 2016 by Elmar Lang

It is always most instructional - as well as being a delight - to see examples from your wonderful collection. Edited September 5, 2016 by Trooper_D

Elmar Lang Posted March 26, 2018 Posted March 26, 2018 Hello, I'm glad that even after a long time, this discussion could have been of help. All the best, Enzo (E.L.)
Peter J Posted March 28, 2018 Posted March 28, 2018 Hi Elmer, Thanks for a most educational elaboration. Given the similar appearance, I assume this enamelled miniature (27,33x14,34mm) is also a post-45 piece?
Elmar Lang Posted March 28, 2018 Posted March 28, 2018 I regret to say yes, although someone dates this type of miniatures to earlier years, like 1922-1938.
Peter J Posted March 30, 2018 Posted March 30, 2018 Thanks Elmer, that's a little bit better. Nevertheless, I like this little creature.

tifes Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 I think that Christian meant that small decoration which is on ribbon and it`s placed on the large-size pictures from "Oesterreichs Orden und Ehrenzeichen" book. I agree with him. It´s just later copy. Regards, Tifes
