Chris Boonzaier
I think these are pretty cool... notice the detail on the tiny cross in the cockade, and the cockade with splints and holes!!!!

GreyC
Impressive, didn´t know there were that many variations. Why is there a difference between those with a blue middle ring and those with the blue center? Different formations? GreyC
Chip
GreyC, The Bavarian enlisted cockade was changed in 1916 from the one with the blue ring on white to the one with the solid blue center. Officer's examples were additionally changed with the removal of the "clam-shell" outer ring to a ring with a "saw-tooth" type edge. Troops already in the field were not so much affected, unless issued new clothing pieces or, in officer's cases, when they wanted to update their cap or purchase a new one. GreyC
Thank you Chip, as I don´t have many Bavarian uniform photos in my collection I wasn´t aware of that. Good to know. GreyC

Fritz die Spinne
Most of my boys. The cross is the only piece out of place, with no better home in my cases. Like Chris and Chip, I am always seeking variants.
