johannis Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 Hello. I have purchased this medal today,so that I can complete my NCO bar . I added photos from the auction. I think the medal is good, bud for the ribbon ring and ribbon I'm not sure. Please your opinion. Every comment is welcome. Thanks, Jannis.
laurentius Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 It's just a regular trifold, to be honest with you, I would keep the medal with the ribbon and try to find another krieger verdienst medal. It's just a beautifull piece, hope you like it. Kind regards Laurentius
johannis Posted July 7, 2017 Author Posted July 7, 2017 Hello Laurentius. You're right, if the ribbon is original, I'll keep it the way it is.I want to wait until I get it.Best regards, Jannis.
CRBeery Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 Is there a visible seam around the outside of this? The surface is quite pitted and frankly this medal would concern me as far as originality goes. Look at the pits at 9 o'clock on the obverse near the rim. I'm not comfortable with this medal based on the photos.
johannis Posted July 8, 2017 Author Posted July 8, 2017 Hello. Thanks for your comment.I also want to be sure that it is an original oneWhen I received it, I'll make better photos and upload here for areliable opinion.Regards, Jannis.

It looks heavily worn and probably polished as well, but, as far as can be seen from pictures, nothing indicates a forgery to me. These aren't too rare anyway, so the odds are good. VtwinVince Posted July 29, 2023 Posted July 29, 2023 Looks like a Spangenstueck, and the ribbon, if genuine, would be more valuable than the medal.

It's seemingly massive silver, and it has the proper die characteristics. The Schnallenstücke are usually silvered brass or even zink, and exhibit an inferior design quality; some don't even have the proper inscription "KRIEGER / VERDIENST". December last year, in their eLive Auction 75, Künker sold more than twenty(!) "doublets" from the famous Peter Groch collection. They make quite a reference! I do agree the market value of Jannis' piece is negligible. Edited July 31, 2023 by saschaw
