Morar Andrei Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 I'm living in Romania, Brașov county. But I'm looking for a restoration place for an old picture. Is there such a place in my county? I heard something, but I'm not sure. There may be one in Bucharest, but it's a bit far from here. Thank you!
Morar Andrei Posted October 28, 2017 Author Posted October 28, 2017 Finally, here's an improvement. Any programne on computer to choose for this activity?
Ferdinand Posted October 29, 2017 Posted October 29, 2017 On another website I came across this lady's work. She does a truly amazing job restoring old photos: http://digitartgallery.com/Photo_restoration_1.html
peter monahan Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 Nice work, Morar! I know nothing of photo restoration, but I would guess that sicne you seem to have scanned the original to colourize it you should also be able to share it electronically with experts outside your local area. There a number of people in France and the UK colourizing WWI photos and I know that one can do amazing things with the right software and some training and experience. Good luck with this project!
Morar Andrei Posted November 26, 2017 Author Posted November 26, 2017 Also, with a bit of help from someine else and a bit if comparrison with other similar photos, I could restore the background image, which became unclear after so many years. Hope it's good!
peter monahan Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 Morar Just saw this for the first time. I suspect, from the look of it that the background is a photographer's backdrop rather than a view of the outside, as was common at the time. Actual outdoor photos were not very common.
Morar Andrei Posted February 24, 2018 Author Posted February 24, 2018 I decided to try by myself on Photoshop. This is my first attempt.
Morar Andrei Posted May 22, 2019 Author Posted May 22, 2019 i think I got myself a new hobby. These are my first attempts in colorising

Morar Andrei Posted May 27, 2019 Author Posted May 27, 2019 Yes, there is a French officer. I think that person was part from Henri Berthelot's French Military Mission in Romania.
Morar Andrei Posted May 27, 2019 Author Posted May 27, 2019 New image completed today. Currently, I am using this hobby in order to relax after a stressful day at school, but maybe I can find a way to use these images.

Morar Andrei Posted May 29, 2019 Author Posted May 29, 2019 I know the best restorations are made by professional restorers, but currently I can't do that because of a few reasobs: 1. Most live in other countries, and I have to use a different currency than the one in Rinania 2. I'm underage 3. Due to my age, I can't make a PayPal account and many times I do not afford the cost of a restoration. At the moment, I consider that the images I started doing can be decent, especially with a bit of help from a re-enactment specialist I'm friends with.
Morar Andrei Posted December 22, 2019 Author Posted December 22, 2019 Actually, I quite started to enjoy this hobby.
peter monahan Posted December 26, 2019 Posted December 26, 2019 Nice work, Morar! You should definitely keep it up: a nice, low cost way to stay involved in history.
Morar Andrei Posted December 27, 2019 Author Posted December 27, 2019 Thank you very much! Happy New Year in 2020!
Morar Andrei Posted February 28, 2020 Author Posted February 28, 2020 A new take on my older projects (still working on it)
BalkanCollector Posted February 28, 2020 Posted February 28, 2020 I see you're making wonderful progress Andrei. You don't need colorisation professionals when you do such an amazing job yourself. I would really like to see more colorised Romanian WW2 photos.
Morar Andrei Posted March 23, 2020 Author Posted March 23, 2020 Thank you! And for this one, I need to say a big thank you to the guys from Tanks Encyclopedia community, for helping me on the technical side, learning me some tricks and giving advice on the color palette.
