    „European Student Front Meeting in Berlin, 14 April 1942“
    The European student front meeting began in Berlin. The meeting was attended by members of the Spanish, Croatian, French and Walloon legions of the Army as well as the Danish, Finnish, Flemish, Dutch and Norwegian units of the Waffen-SS. On Tuesday afternoon, the participants travelled to the Unter den Linden memorial to lay a wreath in memory of the fallen. This was followed by a tour of the Armoury (Zeughaus) led by the Director of the Army Museums, Konteradmiral z.V. Hermann Lorey.
    Here, Konteradmiral Lorey explains a rapid-fire gun with 20 barrels, a so-called mortuary organ, from the 17th century.

    Konteradmiral Karl Topp (left) on board the Battleship „Tirpitz“, date unknown.
    Topp served as the Commandant of the Battleship „Tirpitz“ from 25 February 1941 until 24 February 1943. He was promoted to the rank of Konteradmiral on 01 February 1943.

    At the Laboe Naval Memorial, the Hungarian Imperial Regent Admiral Miklós Horthy laid a bronze wreath in memory of the German naval heroes. After honouring the dead, Admiral Horthy, accompanied by Generaladmiral Dr. phil. h. c. Erich Raeder, leaves the memorial.

    50th anniversary of military service
    "On 9 April 1942, Admiral Hermann Bauer, Commander of U-boats during the Great War [21 August 1914-04 June 1917], celebrates his 50th anniversary of military service. Our picture is the latest photograph of the admiral."
    Bauer was placed at the disposal of the Kriegsmarine on 25 July 1939, but he was not mobilised for active service.
