Dolf Posted June 4, 2006 Posted June 4, 2006 Dolf,i have one about 1250 numbers higher than yours:http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=1541The serialnumber on yours is okay IMO. But you are right, 666 is evil!!!! Send it to me and i will do an exorcism with it Nice Red Stars Love them too!GerdGerd,I saw yours, on the researched pieces section. Nice one too!I got this one from a German dealer, so at some moment it was not that far from you The exorcism was ("obviously" ) the 1st thing I did as soon as I got it, so thanks but everything is fine now Dolf
Dolf Posted June 4, 2006 Posted June 4, 2006 Dolf,Those are some nice Red Stars DocThanks Doc. Anyway, they are all beautiful I guess, only for the fact of being RED and have a 5 arms star shape... The one on your avatar also seems to have a wonderful red enamel! Is it the one you posted earlier on this thread?Dolf
Bryan Posted June 4, 2006 Posted June 4, 2006 And this one is part of a group I own that I have shown here. That's all I have. I might have some more when I?ll stop buying my medals with my scholarships.
Dolf Posted June 4, 2006 Posted June 4, 2006 (edited) The reverseBryan,Any idea why they have been converted to "pinback"? Can you please tell the S/N of the one in the left? Both these seem to be the last variation of T2, right? But the funny thing is that on the obverse the size of that part where the letters are is not the same on both pieces! The one on the right seems to be larger than the one on the left! Thanks,DolfPS: I'm talking about the two pieces from your Posts #29 & #30. Edited June 4, 2006 by Dolf

That's the only reason I see why he should have done that. Otherwise we will have to ask him! I'm not sure of the serial number of the left one. I guess it is # 1788174. These orders are at my home in Canada, so I can't answer you now.
Gerd Becker Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 This one came in today. My lowest numbered Red Star so far and with the prices now it will probably allways be. Awarded somewhere around Mid 1943. Soon to be researched.
Alfred Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 Nice background Gerd My guess, Caucasus or Stalingrad Front.regardsAndreas
Ferdinand Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 Stalingrad Front? I think the number is a little bit too high for that...My earliest Red Star, SN 103683...
Alfred Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 (edited) Auke,according to Paul Schmitts Echos of War:135.957 - 31.12.1943 - Stalingrad Front147.331 - - Air Defence Forces in Stalingradand my observation132.xxx - - Caucasus FrontregardsAndreas Edited June 16, 2007 by Alfred
Ferdinand Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 That's odd, the formation 'Stalingrad Front' was disbanded on 1 January 1943 and the battle was over on 2 February 1943.
Alfred Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 oh, 135.957 - 31.12.1943 - Stalingrad Frontnow I got it to. Maybe a printing error and it is 1942.regardsAndreas
Guest Rick Research Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 Red Stars in the range 11X,XXX to 18X,XXX are quite a mess (nobody consults the pinned documented dated ones on this website any more? OK, I haven't added to it in months, but still... ) are quite a mess, any time November 1942 to June 1943 with higher numbers as early as the first date and lower numbers up to that date.My best guess on Gerd's will be April-May 1943.OK, updated (last done 26 December)http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=7861...st=0#entry75419
Guest Rick Research Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I've never had any below the 10X,XXX range in my paws ... and that was when they were "cheap." Have you asked for research on these, Bill? I don't know if the Winter War one would be available, but sure worth a try. Any of the WW2 numbers THAT low have GOT to be terrific.
Bill Garvy Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 (edited) Thanks, Rick, and yes, the research is "pending", ahem. . .I have another four digit piece arriving soon, and will post it as soon as it arrives. . . Edited June 18, 2007 by Bill Garvy
koopyetz Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 Mr. Garvey. Stunning Red Stars. Thank you and all the others adding to this post. What a great Order.RegardsRick
Eric Gaumann Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 I love them screwpost base variations. One of them is on my list of "I wish I had one..."... Since I'm now jobless the wait continues.....
