Megan Posted August 13, 2022 Posted August 13, 2022 Thanks, Antonio. The first link is the one I posted a translation of earlier... so folks can check the original & have a good laugh at my language skills. It's great to have this original source material doctumented!
Ura87 Posted August 13, 2022 Author Posted August 13, 2022 Award of the Commander of the United Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine badge "For service and achievement" in three degrees (За службу та звитягу). The Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine manages the army units that are part of the Joint Forces Operation, such leaders are also from the police, the Security Service of Ukraine, etc. A commander of this level does not have the right to set his own awards, but every general thinks it is great to have his own awards. There were few awards, so the badge is rare.
Ura87 Posted August 13, 2022 Author Posted August 13, 2022 (edited) The Commemorative badge of Special Force "Brave Sviatoslav" (Святослав Хоробрий) "Offensive 03.07.2014. I'm coming for you." Very rare badge, I saw it just once on the photo. Edited August 13, 2022 by Ura87

VtwinVince Posted August 13, 2022 Posted August 13, 2022 Is there an Order of St. Zelensky yet? Don't mention those secret bank accounts.
Megan Posted August 14, 2022 Posted August 14, 2022 I repeat: keep this thread for discussing the orders, decorations, and medals of Ukraine. This is not the place for political commentary, thank you. 1
Ura87 Posted August 14, 2022 Author Posted August 14, 2022 There are veteran badges "Ilovaisk 2014" (Іловайськ 2014). In the summer of 2014, Ukrainian troops were encircled by the Russians and had heavy battles. Later, there was an agreement on a "green corridor", but when Ukrainian troops began to walk along it, Russian troops did not keep their word and shot the retreating units. I can't find normal photo the badge "Ilovaisk 2014 92 SMB" (Separate Mechanized Brigade / Окрема Механізована Бригада). It's also veteran organization badge.
Ura87 Posted August 14, 2022 Author Posted August 14, 2022 (edited) The badge "Debaltseve 2015" (Дебальцеве 2015). In this city, Ukrainian troops were surrounded and had heavy battles, but they were able to get out of there. Edited August 14, 2022 by Ura87
Ura87 Posted August 14, 2022 Author Posted August 14, 2022 (edited) The badge ''Defense of Donetsk airport 242 days'' (Оборона Донецького аеропорту 242 доби). The cross of veteran organization ''For the Defense of Donetsk Airport'' (За оборону Донецького аеропорту). Edited August 14, 2022 by Ura87
Ura87 Posted August 14, 2022 Author Posted August 14, 2022 The cross of veteran organization ''For the Defense of Luhansk Airport'' (За оборону Луганського аеропорту).
Ura87 Posted August 16, 2022 Author Posted August 16, 2022 "For the defense of the airfield. Kramatorsk 2014" (За оборону аеродрому. Краматорськ 2014). The sign was given on behalf of the city community.
Ura87 Posted August 16, 2022 Author Posted August 16, 2022 Award from the community of the city of Mariupol "Mariupol. Defended - Won" (Маріуполь. Відстояли - Перемогли).
Ura87 Posted August 16, 2022 Author Posted August 16, 2022 Badges of the veteran organization "For the capture of Savur-Mohyla" (За взяття Савур-Могили) and "For the defense of Savur-Mohyla" (За оборону Савур-Могили). Savur-Mohyla is a strategic height in the Donetsk region near the Russian border, for which fierce battles were fought. During the Second World War, heavy battles also took place there, in memory of this there was a memorial complex.
Ura87 Posted August 17, 2022 Author Posted August 17, 2022 When the two presidential medals for participation in the anti-terrorist operation were established, there was also a draft of the third "ATO Volunteer" medal for volunteer formations that did not belong to any departments - the army or the police, in fact, partisan units or militias. Later, the medal for volunteers "ATO Volunteer" (Доброволець АТО) was founded by the non-governmental organization "Kraina" (Country).
Megan Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 Bless you for all these riches.... but how official are these? Most seem to be from veterans' organisations or produced by medal/badge manufacturers for sale. They need documenting, to be sure, but it's best to be clear what they are, more souvenir than award. You'll keep me busy for weeks... along with all the unofficial 'awards' I've discovered while trying to research Ukrainian orders, decorations and medals! But don't stop... this is fantastic!

Official are only president medals, all the rest are medals of veterans' or citizens' organizations. Some organizations establish their own awards, some use commercial ones made by manufacturers for sale. There are many commercial badges often they are used very rarely, but they do exist. There are also awards of local administrations of regions or cities, usually they are quite official because the law allows them to do so. Here are the provisions on the establishment of the city award "Courage and Bravery" (Мужність і Відвага) from the administration of the city of Khmelnytskyi: https://khm.gov.ua/uk/content/pro-zasnuvannya-pochesnoyi-vidznaky-miskoyi-gromady-muzhnist-i-vidvaga-ta-zatverdzhennya
Megan Posted August 18, 2022 Posted August 18, 2022 Thank you. It's fun trying to find the best way to organise all of these on my site. Your help is invaluable!
Ura87 Posted August 19, 2022 Author Posted August 19, 2022 Second award from the administration of the city of Khmelnytskyi "Liberty and Courage"(Воля і Мужність) : https://khm.gov.ua/uk/content/pro-zasnuvannya-pochesnoyi-vidznaky-miskogo-golovy-volya-ta-muzhnist-ta-zatverdzhennya

Ura87 Posted August 19, 2022 Author Posted August 19, 2022 Award of the Kirovohrad region "For Courage and Bravery" (За мужність і відвагу). I can't find normal photo.
Megan Posted August 19, 2022 Posted August 19, 2022 I have just found a whole stack of completely unofficial medals - do you lot want images of them as well? Lots of these turn up with a blank award document so if you fancy some 'bling' you can buy one and fill it out to yourself! Trying to match up 'official' ones - which I class as awards made by state, president, government departments, cities/regions, and the church - with documents establishing them.

If you have better images of these medals you can add it. As for buying, I don't collect it I just save information for history and another collectors, my theme is WWI for all countries that's enough for me. Your division into sections is correct, but some departments or regions use commercial awards or establish their own, which are not completely official, all shut one’s eyes to it, so sometimes the situation reaches absurdity. It can break the brain ? Edited August 19, 2022 by Ura87
Ura87 Posted August 20, 2022 Author Posted August 20, 2022 (edited) Medal "For Loyalty to the People of Ukraine" (За вірність народу України). Initially, it was a commercial medal (photo 1), but later on June 18, 2015, the Poltava Regional Council made it its own, but in two degrees (photo 3). At the beginning of 2017, the design of the award was revised and it became a cross in two degrees (photo 4). Edited August 20, 2022 by Ura87
Megan Posted August 20, 2022 Posted August 20, 2022 Thank you... I try to record everything that looks like a medal because in the future the information as to what's official and what's not may be unavailable. As for the one you show above, I found something almost identical that was named Medal "Patriot of Independent Ukraine" - Медаль «Патріот Незалежної України» Maybe more tomorrow, dearly beloved has got the beer out!
