I'd be curious to see if it's considered a "service medal" or "campaign medal" like you see in most western militaries where the participant is awarded the medal simply by being in the theater of operations. Or is it something that a military commander has to individually recommend for a person to be eligible. Thanks for all of your help "Ura87" on these Ukrainian medals. Please keep us posted on any additional info regarding this particular medal. This medal is something like Britain Defence Medal for WWII. If you about civilians I would say your volunteer organization can apply to the Ukrainian embassy or it can be done in Ukraine by some official person or organization with which you cooperate. The fighting for Avdiivka has been going on since 2014 until today. The medal of the 110th Separate Mechanized Brigade "For the defense of the Avdiivka".
