filfoster Posted July 29, 2022 Posted July 29, 2022 What medals are on his medal bar? I can make out: 1. 1870 EK2nd, with oak leaves 2. Officer 25 yr long service cross 3. 1870-71 campaign medal with bars: Which ones? 4. 1866 cross 5. SW Africa medal: assume non combatant 6 Centennial medal 7. Some kind of Lippe medal?
VtwinVince Posted July 29, 2022 Posted July 29, 2022 Certainly looks like either a house order of Schaumburg or an honour cross of Detmold, going to be pretty difficult to guess without some written cross-referencing.
filfoster Posted July 29, 2022 Author Posted July 29, 2022 If someone has a pre-war rangeliste that would do it.
Daniel Krause Posted July 29, 2022 Posted July 29, 2022 http://prussianmachine.com/aok/kluck.htm Lippe cross of honor 3rd class with swords. Old model, awarded from both duchies as a common decoration. Best, Daniel 1
filfoster Posted July 29, 2022 Author Posted July 29, 2022 Thank you Daniel (again!). I have never seen a copy of it. If I copy this medal bar, that will be the most difficult one to get.
filfoster Posted July 30, 2022 Author Posted July 30, 2022 Does anyone know, or can you decipher, the bars for his 1870-71 campaign medal?

It might be helpful the older type looks technically the same as the later one from Lippe (-Detmold), with their major difference being the initials in the reverse's(!) center...

I think it will be hard to find a copy of either, with swords.
filfoster Posted August 2, 2022 Author Posted August 2, 2022 Anyone make out the battle bars on the 1870-71 campaign medal?

filfoster Posted August 2, 2022 Author Posted August 2, 2022 Thank you! I should send you a PayPal for all the help you've given me. Best, Phil
filfoster Posted February 12 Author Posted February 12 Anyone know of a source for a good reproduction of the COLOMBEY-NOUILLY clasp?
