Looks like a post-1918 made piece made of gilded bronze, not a pre-1919 made piece of gilded silver -> here are example's to compare: link. Regards, Peter

Yes its a common fake, you can find them regularly on eBay.

The things I noticed were lack of crispness and b) newness of the ribbon. Probably the result of a cast non original replica intended to mislead buyers.

This is a very common, possibly the most common type of the MVK to appear on the market. It is my firm opinion those are, despite they're often offered as such, absolutely no old wearers' copies, but 1980s(?) so called museum copies by Göde (that's not(!) Godet), a German firm similar to The Franklin Mint. So, more or less, this is teleshopping stuff!
