Stogieman Posted May 14 Author Posted May 14 This is either the second time this has been sold, or a duplicate. Sketchy case and all, $690 On 29/03/2024 at 14:30, Bernd_W said: I would love to lay my hands onto such a nice piece. Good Morning Bernd, here’s your chance, it’s been relisted with a higher opening bid of $3400 USD. Good luck! 1
VtwinVince Posted May 14 Posted May 14 The WFO is a fairly good fake, the case on the other hand is another hilarious concoction.
Stogieman Posted May 16 Author Posted May 16 Putting this one in this thread. I think the individual pieces are real, but the mounting is a monstrosity. Wrong precedence, style and what looks like a hand-snipped catch for the pin. Final bid was $385
VtwinVince Posted May 17 Posted May 17 Yup, saw that one, Frankenschnalle for sure. If it wasn't for all the enamel damage, it might have been worth it for parts.
Stogieman Posted May 17 Author Posted May 17 This was actually listed as a copy, blue enamel is very wrong imo, brought $43
Stogieman Posted May 18 Author Posted May 18 For the members: The purpose of this thread is to keep everyone advised and informed of the plethora of copies flooding eBay on both sides of the pond. Please take note of the images and sellers. Unfortunately, it’s inevitable that you might get burned, it happens to all of us and we have to live and learn. But keeping an eye on these items may help prevent that from happening. Happy Collecting and enjoy the hunt!! 1
Stogieman Posted May 18 Author Posted May 18 This fake Wagner PLM in a fake case was offered to me for a mere $1400!
Stogieman Posted May 18 Author Posted May 18 Fake Bavarian Observer Badge in a fake case. Opening bid is $365, BIN is $475.
Stogieman Posted May 19 Author Posted May 19 Listed as a “Prinzen” PLM, this was offered to me for $350, someone bought it.
Stogieman Posted May 20 Author Posted May 20 Fake Air Crew Badge, asking was $1k USD from Slovenia. It’s amazing where this garbage comes from!! He had a second copy as well of this badge in rougher condition for $600.
VtwinVince Posted May 20 Posted May 20 To quote Ted Nugent, 'I don't know where they come from, but they sure do come'.
Stogieman Posted May 21 Author Posted May 21 Atrocious copy of the Prussian Pilot Badge, opening bid is $375, BIN is $488. What a joke
VtwinVince Posted May 21 Posted May 21 I agree that that one is a fake, although genuine examples of the 'bent fuselage' pilot badge do exist, I have one.
CRBeery Posted May 22 Posted May 22 Look at the pin. Fake or 1957. Arguably not much difference in my eyes
VtwinVince Posted May 22 Posted May 22 Yup, I did notice that the pin assembly looks like St.&L. 1957 stuff, but I've never seen a 1957 version of this pattern of badge. Doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
Stogieman Posted May 26 Author Posted May 26 Not going to even pretend to understand how this guy can repeatedly offer this fake combination and continue to get bids. In Germany, enhanced with a repeat bar but at least the third time he has offered this combination up for sale. Currently over 300- Euro!!
Stogieman Posted May 27 Author Posted May 27 Fake engraving on an otherwise nice 1914 EK1 brought $935!
Stogieman Posted May 27 Author Posted May 27 Yet another fake Turkish Pilot Badge, usual seller, $317
