Stogieman Posted December 15, 2024 Author Posted December 15, 2024 Like I said, busy week! This one brought 437-Euro! 1
Stogieman Posted December 18, 2024 Author Posted December 18, 2024 I can’t make up my mind on this one. 605–Euro. I know there’s excellent copies out there but I really like the details, enamel work, ribbon segment and box. Opinions please? Thanks in advance for your feedback.
VtwinVince Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 You're right, you have to be extremely careful with this award, our 'Belgian friends' are producing exact copies these days. I like the looks of that one.
Stogieman Posted December 20, 2024 Author Posted December 20, 2024 Well, Good Morning My Friends! This rather simple and interesting medal bar went off on eBay.de for an astonishing 8,938-Euro! I have no idea what the third medal is, never seen this one before. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! 53 bids!

Bernd_W Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 Quote Wie auch bei der Goldenen Ludwigsmedaille wurde ebenfalls für Verdienste in Industrie, Gewerbe, Landwirtschaft und Handel eine Medaille mit der rückseitigen Inschrift „DEM VERDIENST“ gestiftet. https://www.ehrenzeichen-orden.de/deutsche-staaten/silberne-ludwigsmedaille-fuer-wissenschaft-und-kunst.html
dond Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 (edited) That medal has a different reverse than the one shown in the link. The verbiage indicates Dem Verdienste. Is the photo then a mismatch for the award or a different model? Edited December 20, 2024 by dond

Its for merit in industry, commerce, agriculture and trade, while the one shown in the link is for art and science. 1
VtwinVince Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 According to my copy of Die bayerischen Orden by Schreiber that is the silver medal for industry, which shares the same obverse as the medal for arts and sciences. Total number of awards is 45, so quite rare, but certainly doesn't justify this insane price.
ChrisKelly Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 In reference to "dond"'s post... Yes, absolutely correct. While the medal is in the style of Ludwig II's awards, the legend on the reverse indicates some kind of civil or possibly military merit medal. Nonetheless! On the right track!
Stogieman Posted December 21, 2024 Author Posted December 21, 2024 One of the few real ones floating around! 391-Euro
VtwinVince Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 I saw that one, the way the EK hangs looked weird to me.

I am following this thread a while now, but some details why a medalbar is okay or not are totally out of my grasp. I am collecting medals for twenty years now. No German medals anymore, as it is a very rich minefield with hardly genuine items anymore. I sold them all. regards Herman
VtwinVince Posted December 22, 2024 Posted December 22, 2024 I have numerous Godet produced Schnallen, and the quality of the stitching is always first rate, as is the positioning of the medals so that they hang at the same level. I don't see that quality here.

Stogieman Posted December 26, 2024 Author Posted December 26, 2024 Nice cased Saxon Allgemeine Abzeichen, 178-Euro
Stogieman Posted December 29, 2024 Author Posted December 29, 2024 I think this one is legit. Apparently many others did too. eBay.de, 881-Euro!! There’s another one listed there now. Cased with the outer carton, which I’ve owned in the past and only seen a few times. But the opening bid is insane!
VtwinVince Posted December 29, 2024 Posted December 29, 2024 I was watching that auction, the gilding looked to be in pretty good shape.
xxx Posted December 29, 2024 Posted December 29, 2024 real or the schrägstichfaker? https://www.ebay.de/itm/375867698608?_skw=orden+spange&itmmeta=01JG9MXCV3JJSDBZGGVGD8S12B&hash=item578375edb0:g:NrkAAOSwbh9nXvHb&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA0HoV3kP08IDx%2BKZ9MfhVJKnJo07pfWcM8ORITKVFmodQEg2zoc9KdJ5Zf4rcuUO0QBsx%2FJPQqU%2B2CIHMunfc%2FpJrvxNPhHu%2BDAEG3s8kRuMLFLdYw8696q13H4vj0gIIqYBJ1em22I24rZobIcKB3RPlJRk07G7lVDyh%2Bf%2BUdyI6u7f5uLWmsWNOTmt8qOZNBxCq70On9ietj8n0660nbIFZWOgJxcvUAay48dk97oSomUYvsWf5JX%2F5rPUE7zg82GV%2FCNAUo2qLgtga4jBnhLc%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR9DN9bSCZQ
Stogieman Posted December 29, 2024 Author Posted December 29, 2024 Opening bid was 1750-Euro and one bid was placed with less than a minute to close. Really nice to see this one, but the price…..
Stogieman Posted December 29, 2024 Author Posted December 29, 2024 Then there’s this. I’ve never seen or owned one. If this is a copy, it’s a darn good one. No bids, opening was 1490-Euro
