Stogieman Posted February 1 Author Posted February 1 This is not a PLM! This is a Kleine Dekoration of the Prussian Black Eagle Order, cased with original ribbon. The asking price was 3500- Euro, or best offer. Can’t tell if he took an offer, I’m just showing the auction as ended. Again, not a PLM.
Bernd_W Posted February 1 Posted February 1 You are right, its not a PLM. My fault, did miss it, because the award did hardly cover 50% of the pictures size.
VtwinVince Posted February 2 Posted February 2 The market has been flooded in recent years with reductions of the SAO, and other spurious grades of the order. I'm sceptical.
Stogieman Posted February 2 Author Posted February 2 Ok, my bad, someone paid a lot of money for nothing then
Mike Huxley Posted February 2 Posted February 2 I'm shocked at the number of gullible people these days just buy items from eBay believing they have a real deal. And, to be honest Rick, I'm surprised you were taken in by this one.
Stogieman Posted February 2 Author Posted February 2 Well, I’ve only seen one and I did reach out to the owner and was educated as to why it was wrong.
Bernd_W Posted February 2 Posted February 2 Sometimes I think about it would be an easy way to laundry Money for some made Men. Sure there might be some uniformed collectors, but they are imo more in the price range of buying fake EKs. If you spend a couple grands, you likely do your homework or got fooled by someone like Kujau, who also use the social component for fooling you. It's a little bit different compared with an anonymous eBay offer.
lew Posted February 2 Posted February 2 Weitze is saying they're collector copies from 80s which I think is still optimistic, but close enough though. https://www.weitze.net/militaria/25/Preussen_Schwarzer_Adler_Orden_Kleindekoration__453725.html
VtwinVince Posted February 2 Posted February 2 It could be one of the better Blass fakes from the '70's, but still a fake. The only SAO that was real that I ever saw come up on fleabay was a very early sash badge, missing the centre medallions and marked for Hossauer of Berlin. It was also marked Louis d'Or for gold content, which would have dated it very early. I somehow missed the auction, and it wound up selling for less than the junk gold value.

Blass made SAO grand cross sets in the late 70s. Everyone knew they were copies. So, they cost about $500 USD or so per set. I remember the dealer. Ed Denby in Toronto having a set for sale for $700 CDN in the early 80s. Edited February 3 by bolewts58 1
Stogieman Posted February 11 Author Posted February 11 This beautiful Godet bar on US eBay now, price down to $1675, offers accepted. He’s dropped price twice. Condition for its’ age is impressive 1
VtwinVince Posted February 11 Posted February 11 I've been watching that one as well Rick. I still think it's way overpriced.
Stogieman Posted February 11 Author Posted February 11 Hi Vince, can’t say I don’t agree with you on the price. I wonder how low they’re willing to go. Can’t argue with the condition though!
VtwinVince Posted February 11 Posted February 11 Agreed, and I really like these 'black and white', all-Prussia groupings. You should make a lowball offer on it....
Stogieman Posted February 17 Author Posted February 17 Nice St. Henry Knight, final bid 655- Euro, very reasonable even with the reverse chips
lew Posted February 18 Posted February 18 ------- ---- --- ------ ------- ------ ------ ---- ------ ----- --------- hidden gems among a box of ribbons --------- Highlight 1
VtwinVince Posted February 18 Posted February 18 That last one was on my radar, unique combination with the much-faked Anhalt order.
lew Posted February 18 Posted February 18 The Herzoglich Sachsen-Ernestinischer Hausorden is IMO not an award piece other than that everything look great on that bar, the combination is identifiable.
Stogieman Posted February 18 Author Posted February 18 I watched that Saxon lot, the box is the only one I’ve ever seen
VtwinVince Posted February 19 Posted February 19 I had a good look at that HOH, keep in mind it is an Inhaber-Kreuz, so technically not an order.
