slava1stclass Posted June 12, 2006 Posted June 12, 2006 (edited) To all: Currently listed on the well-known auction site. I have my suspicions about the integrity of this "set." Note that no official stamp appears on the photo.Regards,slava1stclass Edited June 12, 2006 by slava1stclass
Mondvor Posted June 12, 2006 Posted June 12, 2006 Very nice group! Five years ago it belonged to fellow collector in Germany. He probably sold it out recently.
Riley1965 Posted June 12, 2006 Posted June 12, 2006 I agree!!! That's a group i'd LLove to have in my collection. Doc
Gerd Becker Posted June 12, 2006 Posted June 12, 2006 Very nice group! Five years ago it belonged to fellow collector in Germany. He probably sold it out recently.Andrew, do you remember any more info about this group? He got his Glory 1st in 1968, would that have been a belated WW 2 - award?
slava1stclass Posted June 26, 2006 Author Posted June 26, 2006 To all: It went unsold. Last bid was $4,050.00. My suspicions were confirmed.Regards,slava1stclass
Stogieman Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 OK, I'm confused. We seem to have 2 different opinions. Is this group real, or not?If not, why?
Guest Darrell Posted June 27, 2006 Posted June 27, 2006 (edited) Why would the picture of the reverse sides of the medals still have the 1st Class with the attachment ribbon flipped over? Something to hide? Edited June 27, 2006 by Darrell
Guest Alanirvine Posted June 27, 2006 Posted June 27, 2006 Doubt that there is much to hide on the reverse of a suspension. However, the diameter of the silver attaching ring looks large and possibly thin too.Alan
slava1stclass Posted June 28, 2006 Author Posted June 28, 2006 It's back. Just relisted.Regards,slava1stclass
Guest Alanirvine Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 Yes they are!Andrew (MONDVOR), does the order book look correct? I mean, the ink and the writing style look fresh and all the same?Alan
DutchBoy Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 I saw the same thing. All his previous orders were added to the new booklet issued for the Slava 1st in 1968, instead of the Slava 1st being added to his original order booklet. That can happen of course if the old one is tattered or lost, but it makes it a little harder IMO to accept the group as authentic.Matt.Yes they are!Andrew (MONDVOR), does the order book look correct? I mean, the ink and the writing style look fresh and all the same?Alan
order_of_victory Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 (edited) I had look in the cavalier book and he is mentioned, my Russian is not good but the date 07/06/1968 is mentioned, the photo though is different to the pic in the book..............may be the pic was added later buy a unscropulous seller?Personaly I think this set ok........if only I had the money.........Order of Victory Edited June 28, 2006 by order_of_victory
slava1stclass Posted July 5, 2006 Author Posted July 5, 2006 Still unsold. Highest bid this go round hit $5,600.00.Regards,slava1stclass
Stogieman Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 So what's the deal here... ??? Not one person can step up to the plate and make a definitive statement as to authenticity?
slava1stclass Posted July 6, 2006 Author Posted July 6, 2006 So what's the deal here... ??? Not one person can step up to the plate and make a definitive statement as to authenticity? To all: Having focused exclusively on Full Cavalier sets going back some 15 years, my judgment remains as expressed in Post 1 above. While some components of this "set" may be original, it does not bear the hallmarks of a genuine group. Several of the reasons for this are discussed in the above posts. Personally, I would advise forum members to steer clear. Even NavyFCO's/Dave's two consecutively numbered Full Cavalier groups (exhaustively discussed in another forum thread) would be a better expenditure of your money.Regards,slava1stclass
NavyFCO Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 Even NavyFCO's/Dave's two consecutively numbered Full Cavalier groups (exhaustively discussed in another forum thread) would be a better expenditure of your money. That is, if they weren't sold already. Dave
slava1stclass Posted July 7, 2006 Author Posted July 7, 2006 That is, if they weren't sold already. DaveDave, Happy to hear that you were able to move them along - hopefully at the price you were seeking.Regards,slava1stclass
Mondvor Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 Yes they are!Andrew (MONDVOR), does the order book look correct? I mean, the ink and the writing style look fresh and all the same?AlanI'm sorry for late answer. I was in Kiev for two weeks and came back only three days ago. About Rulev's orderbook. You can see that it was filled out in 1968, so this is a duplicate book. That's why the ink looks fresh. But there also was an old (original) oredbook in this group. Take a look.
Mondvor Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 So this new duplicate book was given to Rulev when his second Glory 3rd class was replaced for the 1st class order. Also I have images of his personal record card. If anybody interested I can post them on the forum.
Stogieman Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 The set has been re-listed again:http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...A:IT&ih=018The scary thing is, everytime he lists this it's about a ~$50 USD...... EACH time he re-lists!Now that's tenacity...
order_of_victory Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 I think Stogieman that is a different set, 2nd class on the new set is Boader Reverse and number is numbered 21 Order of Victory
