    Bulgaria- Order of Labour Glory

    Recommended Posts

    Dear Doc,

very nice orders - and you got all 3 classes :jumping::cheers: .

Tell me, how is the market situation with Bulgarian Awards - are the still rather moderate priced  ?

William "new world" has a hughe collection of Bugarian Awards.

    Best regards

Thanks Christian!!! I got this set for a really fair price. I'm not sure as prices in general because I'm just getting started with Bulgarian medals. They are not my main focus.

    Hi Doc,

I've also got a full set of these... at least once the 1st and 2nd class arrive from Bulgaria. When I got mine about three years ago I think I paid something like $12 to $15 for it. It was on Ebay and no one else bid so I got it for the minimum. I've wanted to complete them ever since. But at that time and for the longest time since they actually tended to be pricey. They ran around $40 to $75 each and sets ran $100 and up easy. But for some reason the prices came down in the last year or so and you can now find them, especially through Bulgarian sellers for much cheaper prices.

Try: boev60 on Ebay. He's out of Pazardjik, Bulgaria. He generally puts up complete sets for $38.00 or best offer. He ships for $6 for registered mail which is how mine are coming.

My question on these... were holders of all three classes known as Cavaliers as they were with the Order of Labor Glory in the Soviet Union? And if so did they also have similar benefits that came along with the honor?

    Thanks,

Oh, I just realized... this is my 2,500th post! :jumping::jumping: All since last April!!!! :speechless1: I never woulda' thunk it!

    Hello Dan,

:jumping: Congrats on your 2500th post!!! :jumping: I got my set for $40. I don't know if the term Cavalier applies to this Order.

    Doc

Well if the term Cavalier does apply, there were a total of 6557 of them...

Just thought I'd add that little bit of info for the fun of it.

    Hi JC,

I'll second Doc on that... many thanks for the total. Just out of curiosity where did you get your info? I've not been able to find very much information on Bulgarian awards so far... at least not in English.

Whooops it seems I misread a little... There were 6557 total awards issued... of all three classes, and not cavaliers.

This makes more sense since the award was only instituted in 1974...

So, sorry for getting you all excited....

I saw this thread and had a quick look through my brothers book and he said he paid $85 for this last year sometime, but it seems the only ones available are from this website for $99.

    Bulgariana

It is a good book with many many colour pictures but the English isn't the greatest.

I'll scan the page in question so you guys can take a look for your selves.

    Sorry again for the mixup.

    CAVALIER

    Gentlemen,

the special title "Cavalier of the Order ..." depends on the fact, if the order had been confered in a consecutive way:

First you get the 3rd class, then the 2nd and at the end the 1st class.

In Soviet phaleristics you have 3 such cases: Glory, Labour Glory and Motherland.

    Best regards

    Christian,

No one was saying that this is a cavalier Order. Just curious if it was set-up as a Cavalier Order.

    Doc

    Dear Doc,

that's not the point, but we have to check - at GMIC-Yugoslavia we have the ident discussion with the "Order of Labour" - if the regulations of these orders might match in the consecutive approach to the corresponding Soviet Orders, as Glory, Labour Glory or Motherland.

I personally am very sceptical. I assume, that only the Soviet Union had "Cavaliers"-orders.

    Best regards

    Friends,

let's clarify something here before we get too excited.

Yes, it's true that Bulgarian Order of labor Glory was setup in such way that higher classes were given to folks who were previosly awarded lower classes.

However, I am not aware of any special Cavalier designation like one in Soviet Union, where the recepients of all three clases of Labor Glory were given Cavalier Booklet. In many years collecting Bulgarian awards I've never seen Bulgarian Cavalier documents. I also never read anythig about existence of such documents.

    Best regards,

    William

    William,

That was the question. I didn't even think about "Cavaliers" of this order, but wondered when the question was raised. Now we know that there is NO "Cavalier" title with this Order. Question answered. Many Thanks!!!
