Very nice topic. Lots of fun until one reaches the real rare ones. You definetly don't want to miss the next Thies auctions in order to fill the real gaps.

An interesting mount, Christian I've never seen one like it. Is it marked?

Here's one from Bavaria with a safety pin type back.

And a Prussian group. Upper left and center are marked H. Zern. Upper left, Sy & Wagner.

Here's another W?rttemberg with a simple safety pin through the ribbon loop for mounting. Bob, could you show the back of yours?

I don't know who made W?rttemburg, but I know Scharffenberg (Dresden) made the Saxon Bars and Hossauer was (one of) the maker(s) of the earlier Prussian Bars.

Bob, I'm with you on these .... they make a nice display, but some of those rarer ones are so hard to find and the prices just don't bare thinking about. Still I've managed to find a few so here goes ...

    Prussian 2nd class DA

The Baden Landwehr small bar, unfortunatly in not to good a condition and the reverse, without any means of attachment. I'm not sure if this should have a pin .. or where these sewn on.

normaly they have a pin - but you find them sewn on medalbars as well.

the enamel long service award is the "expensive" brother of those issued ones with removed needl system sewn on medalbars

Thanks Christian, I've seen a few of the smaller Landwehr bars without pins on the back, but as yet none sewn to medalbars.

I just realised I've got the later 1891-1912 Wurttemberg 2nd class Landwehr Schnalle as well

    Hi all:

The one foray I really made into Imperial German is with these decorations - I love them and it's great to see all these fantastic examples. Here are a few of mine. They are nothing too special, but they are neat nonetheless...

Here's my Baden LW and a Prussian bar. The Prussian one is marked H. ZEHN on the reverse...

Here's my personal favorite - it's a Prussian Fire Service 25 year in the case of issue that is even named. The bar itself is marked QUELLHORST. The best part is that I paid less for this than I would taking my wife out for a steak dinner :cheeky:

... except I have the original document dated 8 March 1902. I'm not sure how rare this document is, but I can't recall seeing another one..

I hope you liked these!
