Claudio Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 Dear forumites,https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Konrad_Krafft_von_Dellmensingenhttps://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Konrad_Krafft_von_DellmensingenI'd like to show some pictures I have taken at the the Festung Tilly in Ingolstadt (Bayerisches Armeemuseum https://www.armeemuseum.de/de/). Very interesting and complete group of a Bavarian WWI general... lots of interesting information about his career, family and insights into the struggle for power within the Oberkommando des Heeres and its military and strategic implications.I would warmly suggest a visit at the castle of Ingolstadt. Right now there's still a great exhibition about "Napoleon and Bayern"... well done, with a lot of historical insights and also objects of historically very important provenance (Napoleon, his wife Josephine, of the Wittelsbacher Dynasty, etc...). Unfortunately the exhibition finishes in October (now).Enjoy the pictures.ciao,Claudio
webr55 Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 I agree! The Ingolstadt museum is well worth visiting!
webr55 Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 Let me add some more from the same museum:Medal bar of Kurt Ritter von Scherf: Ah Claudio, now I see you already posted everything in an older thread!
Claudio Posted October 7, 2015 Author Posted October 7, 2015 (edited) Yes, but nevertheless a Great Bar... It wasn't there last time I visited the museum, since that space was occupied by the previously mentioned exhibit about Bavaria and the Napoleonic era... Edited October 7, 2015 by Claudio
Trooper_D Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 (edited) Let me add some more from the same museum:Medal bar of Kurt Ritter von Scherf:I wonder why he included the KuK Iron Crown twice? Edited October 7, 2015 by Trooper_D
chuck Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 I assume the first iron crown with the green laural leaves is for wartime, and the last one on the very end a peace time award. any experts??Chuck

On that basis, I follow your line of argument but am surprised that he would wear two classes of the same order, even with this distinction. As you say, we need an expert opinion. I have posted a short message in the Austro-Hungarian Empire forum (link below), with a link to this thread.Link to 'Two Iron Crowns on one medal bar' thread Edited October 8, 2015 by Trooper_D
