    1. Cheers Rick I really like the Minenwerfer Sturmdetachment Heuschkel badge. The design really matches the ethos of the Freikorps. Nick
    2. Rick Did this ever come in a metal device or was it always embroidered on the ribbon bar ?
    3. Rick the insignia mainly but period photos are very welcome as well. Welcome to the forum.
    4. Cheers Paul (I have just jiggled the post to make it easier to read) It would be nice to get a list of these criteria for all WW2 awards.
    5. Robin Just in case you wondered I only edited your post to try and work out why the quote area was not working. I have resolved it now. No censorship taking place. Promise Welcome to the club!
    6. Paul Only the Hafir Bar. I have just sent you a PM Cheers wub.gif
    7. Having only really researched WWI & WWII medals can anyone point me in the right direction for researching a soldier who fought in the Sudan & Boer War ? Are there any regimental records for this era (he is North Staffs Regiment) Thanks
    8. Michel Another fantastic group, your collection is very impressive, thanks for sharing it with us. What happened to Wilhelm Funke did he survive the war? It is unusal to have such a complete collection of medals and documents together.
    9. I sold this a couple of years ago and now I regret selling it as it was a nice example. Is anyone able to explain exactly what it was issued for. I had an alleged photo of the recipient as well I have a copy somewhere.
    10. I know that Pikemedals has got the criteria for the award of the defence medal, hopefully he will post it. It was actually a pretty hard medal to be awarded as the criteria was pretty stringent and revolved around home service. Many troops who served overseas and even with periods at home would not have been entitiled to it. For instance a police officer serving in London would have to have been serving for at least three years between 1939 to 1945 to have been awarded it.
    11. Interesting and rare awards there Gordon. I like the comparison between the Don Cossack Cross very useful cheers wub.gif .
    12. This one I have always taken to be a fake. There is a feint lettering to the reverse f.o. I believe.
    13. Subway Thanks for the informed post. Chairman
    14. Some very interesting uniforms. Thanks very much for the excellent posts ! Oustanding.
    15. Tony Very interesting diary, also a sad reminder of what sacrifice is. Have you got pictures of the german entries, seems strange to think someone else would continue using another mans diary.
    16. One area of tinnies I collect are FlugTag tinnies. Here is one to kick things off.
    17. Maybe I am wrong and it is just the photo, but the swastika on the Zimmerman looks as though it is a seperate piece ?
    18. Gordon What sort of things do you look for to check cap ribbons are original and not repros. Any tips ?
