Only four women are known to have been awarded the Iron Cross during WWI. Frieda Gessert Elfriede Scherhaus Sophie Gräfin zu Toerring-Jettenbach Lonny Hertha von Versen all four received the Iron Cross second class on the combatant ribbon.
