    1. forget it. I can't go anywhere without the whip. Can anyone else lend a hand?
    2. Sounds like a job for an "Indiana Jones" character to swoop in and rescue these rolls. Looks like I can go get them...just have to get my, Fedora -check, Leather jacket -check, plane ticket -check, revolver -check, pajamas -check, Whip....whip?.....where is that whip?
    3. Fascinating that you are there. (business or pleasure? -but don't answer if it is too personal of a question.) And from what I understand, you can't go into some of the historical buildings or have access to the old defenses because they are located where the "new" military defenses are -and they are secured areas. I hope you continue to have a safe journey.
    4. Seeheld, are you in Tsingtau, China. Right now?! Are you browsing through the resale shops or antiquity stores?
    5. Thank you kustik12 for allowing me (and all of us) to view your collection up close. It was a real pleasure to see these crosses. Do you have George Cartrer's other medals as well? Did you know the St. George belonged to him when you bought it or were you able to research the serial number?
    6. These Schwarzburg awards have really peak my interest recently. But this double SEK one confuses me. I believe I have even seen this double combination before (or this is the one I remember). I thought if you recieved a higher award when you already had a lower class you traded in the lower award and only wore the higher class. Or if Schwarzburg made an exception to that rule...is this bar showing a SEK3X and SEK4X, or a 2nd and 3rd class or a 1st and 2nd SEK? How can we tell? The last posiblity I did not give any attention to is that it is a SEK then SKM?
    7. Hallo Claudio; For my edification, why is the Prussian Officer DA a 25 year award? Could it have been for a shorter length of service? Great bar. Thank you for showing it.
    8. Great information. That really explains a lot about this piece. Linasl: I think we would still like to see some pictures of yours when you get it.
    9. I still don't have a good feeling about this one.
    10. Jetons can have crowns and loops, or later outfitted with loops for ribbon suspension. There is certainly nothing unusual about a jeton with a crown on it. I found TWO examples on the GMiC forum alone. I'm sure there are many more. Reference books will have them as well. http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=5744&st=0&p=55920&hl=jeton&fromsearch=1&#entry55920 http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=5240&st=0&p=52250&hl=jeton&fromsearch=1&#entry52250 But let's wait until you recieve it and get some really nice photos. Maybe someone here will be able to identify it. I look forward to your photos.
    11. Too hard to make out anything. Or read it. But from this fuzzy glance it looks more like a jeton. To be sure, what are the dimensions? Are there any maker marks on it? I look forward to seeing better photos.
    12. Hello Tom, Yes, those insignia are justice/law related. Also see these threads; http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=40088 http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=44247
    13. It’s all academic now anyway as no one here appears to have bought the bar. I’ll just have to wait for the next German medal bar with a 1912 Swedish Olympic medal on it to come up for sale. Shouldn’t be more than two or three …decades…
    14. I don't have the number times this 1912 Sweden Olympic medal was awarded. However from the roster of Swedes and foreigner participants involved in the 1912 Olympic games in some official capacity I would say it was much more than 50. Perhaps 500 or 1,000. I don't know. It is still a rare enough medal. I have a list of German participants at the Games. While it is not a long one, but it isn't so short that it would have been easy to ID the medalbar. (And it doesn't have first names.) Although others may have sources. Did RaZpuTIN say he was checking on recipients of the Vasa Order? Although I'm sure many Germans who received the 1912 Olympic medal may also have received the Vasa Order, but it might have narrowed the field. Also, I don't know if anyone know the particulars to the Romanian Cross or the number of recipients?
    15. wait a minute! I don't think the 1912 Olympic medal on this medal bar is the Competition medal "in silver". This medal was a seperate award for Swedes and foreigners who were special officials or in olympic committees.
    16. Did anybody here just win on ebay DE a six medal frack bar w/ Swedish awards? Did anybody here SEE on ebay DE the six medal frack bar w/ Swedish awards?
    17. Great collection. Can you show some close-ups of the 3rd Classes? Thank you for showing them.
    18. Orginals of this medal are wonderfully made. The scene on the back is artistic, the lettering and St. George Cross on the front have sharp edges. IMO...I wish all fakes had this many "tells". It would make spotting them so much easier.
    19. Nice one. I like it. (great photos too)
    20. If it was a Frankenstein bar the creator certainly knew about ribbon order, period construction techniques and access to Turkish devices. I would be unlikely then that he would make an error like putting the hinge on the wrong side. Possible, but I only say unlikely. It's too bad is sold so quickly, otherwise a methodical way would have been; 1) Check with a knowledgeable TR collector if the eagles are good or not. 2) Black light the ribbon and stitching. 3) X-ray the bar to look at the metal form underneath the ribbons. Checking for the hole placement in the core blank. The problem is getting an x-ray. Unless you work in radiology, or have a REALLY good friend it is hard. Train collectors will sometimes get photos of opaque, plastic-wrapped boxes to prove their is a train set inside.
    21. Indeed they are. And for the ones that I own, my thanks to my benefactor. Thank you for your response.
    22. Greetings; I was just wondering. At a recent auction, the price for a personal diary from the Siege of Tsingtau went for far more than I expected. I was just wondering if those person(s) who bid on it are on this forum.
    23. Casino 100 out of bankruptcy. In City Council offers to re-locate to their former site. The petitioners are defenestrated. ~finis~ Godspeed Lorenzo

    24. I also agree with the Austian Order of the Iron Crown, but for edification, what leads us to believe it was a naval officer?
    25. Ow! I mean WOW! But at first, it hurt my eyes. All those wonderful orders and medals together in one tight area. You have some great awards. Thank you for showing them.
