    1. There are also "unit specific" things with the WW1 docs, it is always fun to pick up on specific trends....
    2. I only ever had one EK doc with the citation, to a gebirgsjaeger on Krete.
    3. The wifes greatgrandfather got a Spange for his EK1 and 2, he was pretty chuffed as the doctors in the other divisions got the KVK1 and he got the EK1 spange as he was right up at the front and they kept themselves further back....
    4. Bingo! For some reason it had not entered my mind that they wore Tschakos in 1916..... I always thought of them as the floppy hat brigade....
    5. Any guesses what unit this guy is in?......
    6. You are a God!!!
    7. A fantastic and I see very rare item.... if I could anyway vaguely relate it to anything I collect I would be all over it!!
    8. is there any, any, any evidence that the FW officers wore a Guard Pionier Picklehaube with a skull? I have seen a few on dealers sites, but have otherwise never read a mention that this was done... I am going with lively fantasy here? Any other thoughts?
    9. I agree, that looks like a crown... and as the other guy is wearing a wound badge, we know they have German awards...
    10. Hi, this photo, Taken in München... seems to have a crown on the strap, but placed really highly... Is it leib Regiment?
    11. Yup, on the epaulettes, best Chris
    12. Is this guy living the life or what? I guess being an ersatz Reservist lets you wear your field cap in a different kind of way.....
    13. Hi, I use "Beaten and abused" as a compliment ;-) I always differentiate between "hard wear" and "Badly stored for 100 years"....
    14. For me it LOOKS ok, bus you know I am no helmet expert....
    15. Hi, other than the circle around the star they look to be standard aviation ecusson? best Chris
    16. I am going to go with Ludwig. The Pi Regt 20 was renamed Pio Batl 20 in January 1917, and he was Lt in the Regt, so too early for Oskar to be the winner...
    17. Here is the piece in question... http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/topic/64477-beaten-but-named-ek1/
    18. Not often you get a one looker named cross..... Beaten and abused... but named.... tailor made for my Pionier Tunic... http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/topic/64476-rare-name-boeshenz/#entry607564
