    1. Cant read the date on this one but it is stamped FR122 Brass buttons and hook on the middle strap and nickled rings
    2. It has zinc buttons and steel rings, the belt clip on the middle strap also of steel
    3. A small selection of this essential bit of kit.... This one stamped K.B.A.G 1916
    4. There's a race of men that don't fit in, A race that can't stay still; So they break the hearts of kith and kin, And they roam the world at will. They range the field and they rove the flood, And they climb the mountain's crest; Theirs is the curse of the gypsy blood, And they don't know how to rest. If they just went straight they might go far; They are strong and brave and true; But they're always tired of the things that are, And they want the strange and new. They say: "Could I find my proper groove, What a deep mark I would make!" So they chop and change, and each fresh move Is only a fresh mistake. And each forgets, as he strips and runs With a brilliant, fitful pace, It's the steady, quiet, plodding ones Who win in the lifelong race. And each forgets that his youth has fled, Forgets that his prime is past, Till he stands one day, with a hope that's dead, In the glare of the truth at last.
    5. Just a quickie here.... Does anyone know if there is a history for the Imperial light infantry? I finally need to get some research done here...
    6. Hi, I have the documents to a German Artilleryman who qualified as a pilot in 1913, I dont think as a military pilot. The pilot document is not there, just some letters from 1937 saying they could not reissue the doc, and so they sent an abschrift... How did that work pre WW1? Was there seperate military and civilian pilot training? Or was it all same-same?
    7. To be honest I dont remember him, but the guy who told me said he was one of the guys we used to hang around with and talk crp on the ship to Saudi.. can't remember everyone I suppose...
    8. The Case has 50 Egg grenades that were part of a hoard found in the Verdun area. They come 50 in a box plus fuses. All are empty.
    9. Fantastic early doc for Height 304! This article needs quite a rework, some day i will get it done, but this would have been the action he was in in the week when he got his EK.... http://www.kaiserscross.com/40056/140301.html Very, very nice!!
    10. Its a nice conditioned tunic, I have a photo of the men of the 2nd Bavarian Jäger ersatz Batln, they have the old prewar Blue tunics, with patches all over on the shoulders, chest area... they must have looked like tramps during basic training.
    11. Hi, I just found out my MG Sledge was captured by the 9 CMR (in the next column it says 19 Bn) I know little about this... what is the connection between 19Bn and 9 CMR ? was the 9 CMR even overseas during the war? Thanks Chris
    12. These are veeery hit and miss, occasionally you see a regt medal for 50 or 100 years, but its like regimental histories... never the one you seem to need....
    13. Not practicle at all, but optically very pleasing tunics these Atilla. I saved myself a bit of trouble by simply saying, "I categorically dont collect cavalry"... so unless I find a nice one rather cheap... I wont need to buy one ;-)
    14. Hi Mark, veeeeeeery carefully balanced... if the cat hat farted in the room it would have fallen off...
    15. Hi, Probable, but were they still wearing Tschkos anywhere outside of Germany? All Jäger photos I have in 1918 they have either Soft hats or steel helmets, I assume the Tschakos ending up at home. Of course, may be possible that the Battalion stores had them, but this looks like one of those Pics made "Am leaving for France in the morning, here is a alast photo" to me...
    16. On the Left there are the 1915 Model Diskushandgranate, it is of pressed steel as oposed to the cast 1913 model. On the right the 1917 Eierhandgranate, the ealier smooth one and the later "neuer Art" n/A or new version.
    17. The Model 1913 Kugelhandgranate and the 1915 n/A Kugelhandgranate which was easier to machine produce...
