    1. Some time ago I was speaking to a decorated French Vet who served a Few tours in Algeria. he said an interesting thing.... of course, back in the day he saw it differently... He basically said, The French fought in Algeria, but Algeria had the RIGHT to independance. In retrospect he feels that French withdrawl was the only realistic and fair solution, a minority White rule was not defendable. He further went on to say, that the Algerians have Fcked everything up, top to bottom... unfortunate, but once again, their right. I know a lot of folks dont see it that way... but white rule in Africa, nice as it was to grow up in cape town in the 70s and 80s... was not a long term solution....
    2. I no longer own it, and in respect of whoever does own it nowdays, i have a spoiler on the pics so they cant be used in somewhere without permission... But i am sure you will enjoy anyway....
    3. Mixes the Edelweiss and Sturmbataillon Theme ... 2 of my favourites... :-)
    4. Once again Red Cross, would the thought cross anyones mind that these could be anything but an EK?
    5. Indeed... He was lucky enough to get an early EK as his front service was pretty short ;-) I have a similar EK, also to an "old Guy"... he was alo a Haupmann, heart attack 2nd day of combat, sent home with an EK2 and no further war service ...
    6. WOW... so I guess an officer in Oberland would have rubbed shoulders with a bunch of future "higher" guys....
    7. I dont think so... it is artisanal... some guys nowdays are really keen hobby craftsmen and do very good work... see a lot of the silver work on the beliner auktionshaus a few years ago ;-) An item like this is as good as the person making it.... There are way fewer blade makers today as well... but some of those that do make blades are as good, and some maybe even better than most back then.... I agree noone could do that statue for GBP20 nowdays... but I had a bit of an experiance last week... We were cleaning out the father inlaws house.... Tooooons of "stuff" , ornaments, souveniers, craftsmen things... some of it cost real money 10-20-30 years ago.... if you tried to "move it" today, you would get pennies on the pound. Its like a car... buy it expensive... drive it off the lot.... and thats it for price....
