    1. Maybe instead of relying on the Third Reich collector "Wisdom" they should then pull their fingers out and present an alternate "Wisdom" then ? Its no good Joe saying "Why is Pete on the radio and not me" when Joe never makes a record.
    2. He seems to be wearing the huge British shorts?
    3. Here you go... the first write up for the group, including the bayonet attack...... http://www.kaiserscross.com/60401/134143.html
    4. This is a great addition.... Stuff to two guys who were literally face to face on the battlefield.... includes an award for fighting the enemy off with a bayonet. http://www.kaiserscross.com/60401/134143.html
    5. Ahhhh.... but the only diff between the WW1 and modern CdC is the quality of the metal ... by then they will all be matt ;-)
    6. Hi, I paid about EUR3 for it in a junk shop in Istanbul. Maybe just the quality of the material is bad?
    7. Nah, I took too long and missed my chance. H?sken of all people had one on his list for ages and ages and ages.... I waited.. and waited...and hummed... and hawed... Then I saw this book had come out and I thought... go get the clasp you fool.... Of course... it was gone.... Dont mention this award to me ever again.... :-(
    8. I would imagine a screw up of some sort... but I will stick with it, its prettier than the brown one ;-)
    9. I am not sure why I got the silver one, it seems most guys in the legion got the brown one.
    10. Here is a doc for the medal...
    11. Here is one from the UK.
    12. I think the terrible printed ribbon is a pointer that they all come from the same place? The box mine came in was definitely not French. best Chris
    13. A thought to this one... As the country is one of the few in the region where the population WAS grateful to see western troops.... and as they have zillions of dollars of oil.... This piece of crap medal is a bit of an insult. They could not have paid more than EUR2 for it. The first time I got a medal retroactively I had my medal bar changed to include it. This one, I did not bother. I am glad I have the document entitling me to the award.... but feel the medal itself is an insult.... one of the worst examples of taking the "Lowest bidder" ever.
    14. Here is mine. I forget what the the difference is. Best Chris P.S. will try and find the award doc today.
    15. can we see more? Maybe in a summer uniform?
    16. That confirms what I thought. The grandmother insists its her father... but he only joined in 1915. I will dig out another pic where I am 100% sure its him Best Chris
    17. Hi, Nothing on the unit but his photo is here... http://www.kaiserscross.com/60401/90001.html I think after he was wounded he went to a landsturm batln for a bit to recover, then to the 101 as a replacement. I had misread, he did not return to the 182and in the end. It was 182 hospital Landsturm batln to recover. 182nd EB for 1 month then to the 101. Best Chris
    18. A superb selection of photos.... it all looks so very.... BRITISH in a way.
    19. My wifes great grandfather was a Lt in the 182nd. He was wounded on the Somme with the regt before transferring to the 101, then later back to the 182.
    20. Is the photo period? I will be the devils advocate and say... "I think it looks like a guy I saw at a Militaria show once....."..... ;-) Just kidding, but it would not be the first time something like that happened...
    21. Just bought the following two CdG award docs... There were two issued to the guy fot the same event/Wound. For a write up about the situation he was wounded in please see the whats new section below... http://www.kaiserscross.com/130701/home.html
    22. A nice Set for the fighting at Souville after the Bavarian Offensive at Verdun on the 23rd of June 1916... See here.... http://www.kaiserscross.com/130701/home.html
    23. I think there is an error on the doc.... the only time thee regts were in the same sectot was october-November 1917 (not 16) where they fought in the battle at La Malmaison. Seems to fit.
