    1. Hi, I have only seen a couple in photos. I dont think there were that many back then, but unlike many other items, they seem to be indestructable... and most seem to have survived, I think they were not really for snipers, but basically for any fixed position.
    2. Hi, All the finds are from Verdun. All above the ground items (no digging allowed). best Chris
    3. These are no "arranged" they are just acting as a space filler for now... the heads are original, the caps as well, the wifes uncle did the "sticks" for me.
    4. On the 08/15 I had to take it to a gunsmith in Canada to get some extra holes drilled in the barrel so I could bring it to germany... but it is no big deal as you dont see the barrel at all anyway....
    5. All guns changed to german specs and legal! This basically concerns the bolt and barrel, so we are way luckier than our friends in the states. The 08/15 is just keeping the place warm.... next month I go to fetch the 08.. :-)))))
    6. A snap of my fuse shelf. These are the nicer ones found on numerous trips to the battlefield. On each of these i have been able to mark in which sector they were found. Best Chris
    7. Not really a display, but my wifes grandfathers tunic. Bottom right is a Bernd von Arnim cap tally (his ship).... I had to look over 10 years to find one, seems to be the scarcest destroyer tally... Murphys law....
    8. because we are in germany I had to twist off the heads of the bullets, empty them out and glue them back in. Still, better that way in case the house catches fire.
    9. I know, I know.... a corny title, but my terrerium has grown. instead of one shelf packed solid, I have spread it over two... so both are a bit empty... it does however give room for growth.
    10. When stamped on equipment.... what exaclty is this? Beschafungs amt? Bekleidungs amt? Bayerische Armee Korps? I listened to 2 germans argue this for 10 minutes today....
    11. although... a collector may have mounted them IN order..... I have seen some strange mountings 8both German and South African) to poor workingm men who mounted their own medlas. Am I right in thinking that whether it be mounted in the right order or not.... the named medal is the only one that should be named anyway?
    12. Hi, Nope, he was born in 1881, was doing his military service 1902-03 and released from the Prussian army service to go with a specially raised contingent to DSWA in 1904 to form an Artillery batterie. Best Chris
    13. Hi, His name was Heinrich Teske. He did not seem to serve in WW1 so I am curious to see that was due to wounds suffered in DSWA best Chris
    14. A senstaional group of goodies, they must look nice in a frame!
    15. Sturm ?ber S?dwest, 1997 (Hereo-Aufstand, 1904) - Feind ?berall-Guerillakrieg in S?dwest, 2000 (Nama-Aufstand, 1904-08) Well, I got these two.... GREAT investment indeed !!!!!!! A question to the bars on these medals.... As the campaign medal was awarded without bars.... when did they start to give out the bars? Best Chris
    16. Which obviously means it did not go against his parole given on being released...
    17. OK, some new info.... A poster named "Luderitz" on the Schutztruppe Forum came up with the following info... "However, on the 5 March 1917 v. Hadeln was sent to England together with a group of 30 Officers and 3 non-commissioned officers. The reason why is still unclear to me and I am busy researching this. I can only think that he was exchanged with English P.O.Ws. and that is how he got back to Germany during the course of the war. There is no doubt that he was awarded the Iron Cross while on active duty in D.S.W.A. " My query was ... how did a POW in GSWA get an award doc made out on Berlin at the beginning of 1918... and how did he join the 2. Garde Division as a POW !?!?!?!! The above answers a few questions..... he got the preliminary EK doc... because he was in germany. Usually wounded could be traded, if it was considered that they were no longer capable of serving. I assume they must have taken an oath not to serve anymore. However... Grenzschutz at the end of the war was obviously different, von Hadeln must have volunteered... and it was authorised... in this doc which I did not get...
    18. http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/sho...119#post1619119 I have no interest in this one, outside of my area, but I have had many, many WW2 EK docs through my hands... and only once, ever, a preliminary one. These are very, very, very scarce indeed, compared to normal ones. At about the time this one was filled out (I actually thought earlier) they became "forbidden". A scarce piece overlooked by our doc collectors.
    19. Hi, Thanks Bernd. How "official" was the badge? Could it be worn on state uniforms? Best Chris
