    1. Here was mine for Tchad. I had one for the Medialle Outre Mer for the Gulf, but that was lost when I was in Zaire (Our admin guys back in Central afrika had to warehouse our gear as we had flown to Brazzaville then ferried accross to Kinshasa, one of them threw away some of my documents)
    2. Looks to have a destroyer badge though
    3. Is it true that the quality of all editions is not the same and that some of the later editions have less info than the ealrier ones etc. etc. ?
    4. Hi, He was a Doctor. Originally from Romania, his Soldbuch had a photo of him in a SS Medical school /unit in Berlin with SS Runes, then he transfrerd to the Handschar. Was there from day one when the unit was formed, tilll the end of the war.
    5. The Legion has its own archives.... I would guess you can wait longer than 120 years for them ;-)
    6. Extra room for his Gin bottles and 'baccy?
    7. It seems to be the one that he fancied the best as well as it is really "well worn"
    8. Hah !! Empty and washed for the first time in years !!!!
    9. Found a photo with a Legionnaire wearing the Order of Ouissam Alaouite
    10. He was an Infantry officer in WW1, the EK2 he got when wounded on the Somme, the EK1 for breaking up a French attack in 1918. In WW2 he was the Divisional doctor for the 6th Luftwaffe Field Division.... the Divisional commander was a JU52 transport guy who took over the command of a fighting division. As the Great Grandfather was the only one with infantry experiance he doubled as an advisor. In his letters home he was pleased as pringles to get the EK bars when the divisional doctors of the other divisions in the sector got KVK2 and 1s. He pushed his first aid posts and field hospitals right behind the front line so the guys would be treated riht away.
    11. Hi, Some times things come... sometimes they have to go. I cannot remember the guys name... he was a Party member, lawyer, served in the army, them was in the SS Division nord. I think somewhere in the Stab.
    12. Hi, there were indeed colour photos back then, a friend is bringing out a book about an Aufkl?rungs Abteilung in North Africa with all colour photos by one of the pilots.
    13. You could of course be right. I have always wondered why there was never a trace of darkening, even in the deepest recesses of the badges. if it had worn of there would still be SOME trace..... UNLESS they were cheap and had darkened them with water paint
    14. Could it not be that the IMMEs just lost their darkened finish at the first sign of rain? I have seen a totally mint, darkened IMME... but the worn ones seem to no longer have the finish......
    15. Hi, I think it is Justus.... which is odd as well ..... He was probably known as "Just Kramer"
    16. Hi, Unfortunately long gone :-( it was part of a load of things I cleared out a number of years ago. It went to Bill Shea, so I assume it may be in one of your collections...
    17. A man I knew well. he was a good friend of my wifes grandparents and used to come visit for tea every few weeks. I hope the badge shots are to your liking...
    18. Hi, Its German made, has a porcellain lid... cannot remember the motto on the lid... something from 1890 I think. On the front I think it was "Treu bis in den Tod" A good friend wrote to me from the states years ago and said "Chris !!!! Help !!! I am tired of the USA... drinking beer from plastic cups and tin cans !!!! I need something stylish and GERMAN !!!!" So I sent him this........ Maybe he will post better pics... if he has not been using the mug too much..
    19. Hi, His DKs are here.. http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=12587 His Pilots badge is here (an Imme) http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=12584 I also have his EK1. With it was his Pilots schein, and the ripped out pages of his Pilots achievement book with details of all his combat/operational flying, including where and when they attacked convoys (all in the Med) and what he sank. Its nice because the "Average" bomber pilot (so they say) got the EK1 with the silver clasp, pokal with the gold and DKiG with his first pendant. I think of the DKiG after 70 or so missions as a real achievement.
    20. Photo I took while in the army.... you can see the empty case falling...
    21. Hi, all of the medals, most of the docs, the uniform, the dagger, dog tags, photo album....... granddaughter...... house...... his apple orchard..... it was my most complete group
    22. The crew of a german hospital ship after the war. They were still serving under british command...
