    1. Interesting. Very interesting. Have you compared it to the one somebody split apart? (I'm sorry, I do not remember what forum it was on)
    2. Hi Paul, very nice job. I have never had an issue with restoration using strictly original components/ribbons. Nicely done!
    3. Daniel. I commend your actions here. It's never a good feeling when something we cherish turns out to be less than we anticipated. Stepping up to the plate as you have makes a shining example of what GMIC members aspire to be. Ladies & Gentlemen, a big hurrah for Daniel! Thanks, Rick
    4. And just drop-dead gorgeous. Amongst the nicest of the State Security Badges that I have seen thus far!
    5. Hi David, a commendable start! Welcome to The Forum!
    6. Another view of a D03a. The numbering/awarding sequence is making me think these were made as one batch. Then disbursed over a very extended period of time as the numbers/dates don't seem to really coordinate well. Glenn's example is a very low number but the award book was 1973! I think we have a "reach in the box and whatever comes out" situation. Anybody else have thoughts on this? All appear to have been made in the Moscow Artist's Collaberative.
    7. OK, so now we have 2 different unnumbered ones, disbursed through the NKVD in the 1950's of a late 1940's style. What does this tell us? What are the significance of the numbers on Makarov's? I've never seen a stamp like that one before!?
    8. It will be interesting to see where your OGPW2 ends up. I tried very hard to find fault with it last night. The pictures just are not clear enough for me to be 100% and my exposure to these is limited at best. Good Luck and Welcome to The Forum!!
    9. Hi Stijn, yes, Uwe is an excellent source on W?rttemberg and highly respected as well as knowledgeable!
    10. Greetings WC, very, very nice ribbon and one I have not seen before. I couldn't find it in Nimmergut's either!
    11. Hi Tom, I think someone got into a "stash" of these recently. Although the others I have seen had smaller rings. All seem to be one-piece, non-magnetic. I initially was unsure as to age, but cannot argue them into the "new" category. The quality has just been too good.
    12. Interesting. The inefficiemcy of a centrally-dictated systenm can be astounding at times. Considering how many things the Soviets did well, there's just so much they did not. To quote Tom Clancy "Marxism-Leninism cannot dictate the weather"...
    13. Hi Chuck, yes, that's the one. Rick's translating/cataloguing. Did they ever make steel at that factory?? Or did they just build it and wonder?
    14. Hi WildCard! Great thread and some very obscure medals & awards!! Talk about a "short list".... holy smokes.
    15. Well, my apologies to the seller as I did not read his description, I just looked at the photos very quickly....... Now this seller I think is a different story:
    16. OK, I'll accept that. Let me see if I have any of the right one for you. Will PM if I do.
    17. And another. All from the same seller in The Ukraine. Very busy boy he is.
