    1. and.... the peacetime FJO, or any Bulgarian on a solid red ribbon would NOT be nounted in between the two "war" ribbons.... Nor would the pure black Johanniter precede a war decoration. Now, first place could be the EK2 ribbon with acid destruction of the white threads... Second place is most certainly an iron crown 3 ribbon, but again... a crown, but no swords device/war decoration wreath preceding a war ribbon??? Too many inconsistencies with reality to chase this bar....
    2. Gentlemen, interesting discussion. I have always noticed that a large part of the collecting community has had a tendency to shun not just "Civil" awards, but the peace-time equivalents to combat ards of many house orders. regarding the "Hero" designation..... if you think the only heros in this world are military you have seriously missed a great deal of your history. Valor comes in many shapes, sizes and colors and not all of it involves weapons........
    3. The case looks identical to one I handled about 3 years back. I believe both versions of this case, with this spelling to be original, just made at different times. The one with the "House Jeweler" designation clearly preceding the one without. The case I had came with a Prussian Observer Badge inside, not a Bavarian. So, someone has added the badge to the case after it left my hands. I have no photos in my archive that match this badge, so I do not believe it was sold by me. The dimensions sent by Mike are smaller than what I would accept as typical P?llath/Poellath manufacture. Mike, may we ask where the case/badge came from?
    4. I enjoyed this thread.... the BG Badges are amongst my favorites and I especially like the Hard-Cover document of Dolf's!
    5. 25mm ribbon was used for mounting on medal bars and occassionally ribbon bars as well, pre-1915. Does the ribbon glow?
    6. Greetings Michael, please PM me the dimensions of this badge. Thanks! (top of cross to center of bottom bow, width at center)
    7. There is NO documentation of ANY Prussian (Juncker) Aviation Badge (Army) having been made with that crown mark. The quality of every single one is substantially below known originals. All known (direct from family) originals have no such mark. There is some evidence that a substantially different mark may have been used on a very select few Naval Aviation Badges of Prussia. This mark is also known to have been used by Wagner on Railway badges.
    8. This is an early (pre-1918) case for the Prussian Golden Military Merit Cross. (and quite fabulous as well)
    9. Heiko! Outside of a couple of Bravery Medal groups, that Bavarian Polizei Group is one of the BEST I have ever handled, including Officer groups. Splendid and then some. I'm the one that layed it on Rick R's table!! ;>)
    10. BTW Boys & Girls.... note the "50" on a couple of these devices.... think "wicked rare"..... ;>)
    11. Very nice to see this variety. Especially happy to see the document!!
    12. BTW... I've seen what he's working from here. We're talking a serious labor of love folks. it's pretty amazing information, but useless to most of us in its' original form. When he's done... think priceless...
    13. OK, not the issue piece then and other than the document.... not really worth chasing too hard. The doc for sure... the sinker, maybe it's a legit wearer's copy, but that's a tough argument to back-up....
    14. I had a real chuckle when I saw this mark... The only two things I can say is that it's certainly not one of the known makers. It's not a crown and moon I've ever seen before.
    15. This badge is a common reproduction. Details wrong Pin and catch wrong Maker mark is wrong
    16. Gentlemen, always remember... the instant one has to start explaining....... the piece no longer has real value or historical significance.
    17. Given the NC EK2, I would tend towards a Brunswick NC EAK2, although the ribbons are very similar.
