    1. Hi Don, Thanks for the reply. I'll have to get a wide pin one one of these days, I do like these 30's they're the quality WB of them all in my opinion. Kr Marcus
    2. I just had a though, do you remember some time ago some of us were chatting about 30's and I said I was of the notion these thin rounded pin sorts were earlier. Not, that I can back it up in any informed way, I'm pretty clueless on these things if honest But regarding the black one being brass and assumed earlier, and it having a thin pin could the thought of the thin pin solids hold water do you think ? Kr Marcus
    3. Thats lovely Don, and a bugger to find, I've been sort of on the look out for one of these, I missed a matching packet and badge for next to nothing A little treasure that there you have ! Kr Marcus
    4. Boxes again In these you have the 8 Year hinged and unhinged box, the same appllies with the 18 Year medal, but in this instance you have a wide box and the normal width, lastly the 25 Year comes in just the hinged box with the wide version and normal width. Then you have these too.
    5. Hey Sal, The only purported original packet so far I'm aware of for these is a paper packet and long winded designation on them. This type of 'air sick' bag packet (note the bottom of the packet), some times described as wax or petrol (gas) packet is evident on the markets and dealers sites of a less reputable reputation 99% of the time. I have dubious inclinations about these, I would suspect it as being fake......I can't say for sure in all honesty based on any premise and would like to have one to hand. Kr Marcus
    6. Both maker marks on the packets tally to the awards mm also, which is nice these days, as so often in years gone by collecotrs would just desire the award and not packet to save a couple of pennies. In fact I've got several packets and cases because of that very notion in the past !!!
    7. Ricky (#2) old friend you're killing me with these pictures you show on all these threads, were these the ones that ended up in Scotland ??? You had a set of three if I remember in white boxes too ?? Not boxes for you but packets, I thought I'd share these with you, I do have boxes but though and I'll show a couple of these firstly, not rare, but not so often seen packeted items. Kr Marcus
    8. Thanks mate, send me an e mail in ref to the WAF pm and we'l have a chat or phone one of these days you tight Northern'er Your mate, Marcus
    9. Can anyone identify the regiment on this button, it's a flaming grenade at the bottom and GR then a mirrored GR ?
    10. Pic of guy wearing the cap badge
    11. The reverse with an a number '613' on a additional brass plate added to the badge and the makers name J.R Gaunt London marked twicw, one incuse and one raised.
    12. This is an unusaual and I'm told rare cap badge, there's no reference to it in any military cap badge publications that I'm so far aware of. I'm not aware that it's RAMC affiliated, nor is it for a regimental aid as far as I'm aware, myself ex army & RAMC and with several visits to my own museum at Keogh Bks they to had no idea. One suggestion was that it's pre WW1 and was a form of relief/red cross cap badge ? The photgraph below is a period 'postcard' picture and was bought with the badge, the clues maybe in this. Any idea's what it is at all ? Kr Marcus
    13. Just a cheeky shot of the badge (sorry, I love this badge)
    14. A generic pattern box (3rd size) and a lovely G.B badge, I have a soft spot for these badges.
    15. Here's another latter war cardboard box in the collection
    16. Well strangely enough Laurence this is my other collecting field Belgium medals !!! Believe it or not I'm no expert on these at all, but I may be able to help on the odd one here and there. The Agriculture one is a an earlier one, perhaps 1930's give or take a decade (but more the period of 1930's for sure), the enamel and construction lead me to believe this (and it's like a dated and awarded example I own) as the latter ones, metal construction, rivet etc all different (significantly there's a difference to post and pre war Belgium medals most of the time) Just a novice opinion and still learning on these (as with all militaria) On the WAF you showed the other Civil decoration you have, I have again one of these boxed and try in vain to collect 'earlier' examples if I can, I believe your example is the 2nd Class and the silver version not the gold. My example shows this trait of a blackened silver colouring with gilt perpetuating through, I think it's a form of oxidation perhaps. I love these Belgium medals, they're 'pretty' and my little girl at her age of 6 going on 16 has similar contention's already with TR militaria, they're the 'naughty people' and bad men and Daddies bad for spending to much money also.......the wifes influence there coming through Kr Marcus
    17. Prabably not Ricky, maybe a few examples at the rear of the book, it's going to be a big book though and may have to be in two volumes already There are seven distinct variations in the Ost medal packet, or is it eight, I can't remember now thats just one packet and the Luft Flak badge case around seventeen to date variations as such. Theres a lot more to do yet, and research but it's coming along. Hey I could do a third guide to fakes too
    18. Marcus H

      Green case

That is a fake case without a doubt.
    19. I got a suprise today as Sal sent me the BB box, and I can confirm that indeed it is a fake. I'll get some pictures taken of it and post the results of inspection, not a bad fake at all ! Thanks Sally mate, looking forward to our annual trip already I'm saving up already. Speak to you very soon, Marcus
    20. I need a nice blue box though Jacques Or a green one for it ! In your opinion are these earlyish, mid or late ? Is it possible to guess an age on these perhaps ? Kr Marcus
    21. Oh yes, I agree about the thoughts of fakes.......I bought this one for 600 euro, the guy thought it was fake when I bought it but sold it as 'original' !!!
    22. And my friends example of his EK1 puported to be also of this maker, note hinge and catch.
