    1. I still think those reverse setups sre from a later period, say post 45ish. Here is an interesting one I picked up as a repro. Seems everyone thinks the Assmann design = repro. It has a much different reverse set up and shows honest wear. Thoughts?
    2. This guy has been doing this for a while. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe he was a member here for a short time until he announced his intetions on making and selling of fake bars. He thought he would get a warm welcome but instead was roundly denounced. All his bars are mint. Not a worn ribbon in the bunch.
    3. He's still at it: http://www.ebay.com/itm/WWI-German-Reuss-5pc-order-medal-bar-group-/280795668104?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4160b9de88
    4. That medal was still attached to the bar and attached exactly like the others that were still on it when I acquired it. You can see the same bluish material on several of the other awards.
    5. After a little cleaning and finding a few bits and bobs the bar lives again.
    6. Here's a medal bar that I picked up a while back. It is really sad to see a guy's life hacked apart......
    7. Considering that even the Hindy cross has been faked I would not doubt all these others have been as well. Exactly what is the cost to set up dies etc....???? Not that much in India,or Pakistan. Nor would it cost that much for a guy moonlighting at night using the same equipment that he uses for his day job.....
    8. Anyone know where I can find one? I have a bar that I'm trying to restore.....
    9. Thanks Rudi. I think the quality speaks back to the Imperial times compared to most of the junk that was pumped out post war. I do agree though that it is post war so the maker must have been one of the house jewelers imo. I will have to look in the catalogs when I get time.
    10. Very beautiful awards. How does this one look?
    11. Thanks guys. I tried a well knowen auction house for a FJO described as "gold" but eneded up receiving a bronze one.... I'll check out the others. vr d
    12. I've branched out a bit from German Imperial into Austrian awards. I know tons of sources for the German stuff but don't have a clue when it comes to Austrian. I can use any help I can get wrt dealers, both good and bad, as well as other sites etc.... Thanks in advance. d
