    1. Also, as a royalty he was kinda personalising the dutch state, many states wanted to thank each other for their efforts, It is not possible to thank each member of a foreign army, thus decorating the prince for "general merit" is meant to decorate the dutch state. Kinda weird story from me, but I hope the meaning is coming straight He was decorated for the merit of all dutchies kind regards, Jacky
    2. Hi Gents, A bit late, but uhm.... Well HANGING FROM NECK : - Order of St. Stanislaus - commander (Russia) - Order of the White Falcon - Commander (Saxon) TOP ROW : - Orde of the Dutch Lion - Knight - Orde of the oaken crown - knight - Order of Merit d'Adolphe d'Nassau - meritcross gold/silver - Order of the Danneborg - Knight BOTTOM ROW : - Metal Cross 1830-1831 - Order of Leopold I ( Belgium ) - Knight - Order of Christ ( Portugal )- Knight I have to say that many things are hardly visible, however many ribbons are hard to see, the metal cross should have stripes on its ribbon, nowhere to see. Also does it come after all the other medals, thus it might be a foreign medal too based on it's precedence after the danish order. The order of leopold isn't leopold II but leopold I because of the enamel!!! Leopold II is just a lovely metal cross, whereas the leopold I has enemal all over the cross. Nice Card!!!! Kind regards, Jacky
    3. Really nice bars!! The serving Brothers/sisters badges are certainly a pleasure to the eye!! Anyone has a picture of the other grades of the order of st John?? Kind regards, Jacky
    4. And do you know for what kind of merit and what kind of grade they had been awarded this order??? Any pics would be nice too to see Kind regards, Jacky
    5. Nice medals, The order of our lady of mercy is, correct me if I'm wrong, now a merely kind of family order???? Kind of order of st Joachim.......??? Kind regards, Jacky
    6. There is again another nice bar on the "Marktplaats" You might want to have this bar too?? Any pictures for the others amongst us....
    7. A grand cross set of a former colony of that country??? From what colony was the order of the netherlands lion?? Oh you meant that he wore the "lesser" order instead of the higher order, while his father wore the GC of the former colony... Well I guess he thought that as it was a family happening, not really the state-occassion, thus he would wear the family order instead of the state order. Not a bad guess!!! Kind regards, Jacky
    8. Taraaaaaaaaa *drum* That was the site I meant. Kind regards, Jacky p.s. Igor, What kind of bar/group was this clasp??
    9. Dear Igor, I have seen a site which handles about the reals and fakes of this bar, I will have to look it up. However, one of the points is the thickness of the bar, could you give a side picture of the bar, from where we can determine the thickness of the plate. Kind regards, Jacky
    10. After a little search, only this picture of the NOS database.
    11. And Yes.. The master has spoken again.... But I don't like the phrase about the beauty of the Netherlands Lion...... I consider them both lovely. Eric, are there any pictures of the decoration of the belgian princesses?? Or any other decorandee?? Kind regards and "Prettige jaar wisseling gewenst" Jacky
    12. No, he means the crown order, which has almost the same medals and likeness as the houseorder of Orange, but it's ribbon is orange with the colours of the dutch flag on the sides of the ribbon. This site of Eric will give you information of the decorations, for more information, you will have to wait untill tonight or later this week as we, dutchies, have a public holiday, the second christmas. He knows more about this order and it's receipments. As far as I know, this order is still in use and still awarded, but not so publicy as ever before, just sparely as it's a order of merit, so her majesty is guarding the esteem of this order very strictly. Also is it merely a private order than a state honour, thus not really publicy announced. Kind regards, Jacky
    13. P.m. sent. Kind regards, Jacky by the way, Merry X-mas and happy new year.
    14. I'm sorry, but if I look quite closely, it appears that 2 of the oak leaves are silvered and one is bronze. This would mean that the silver ones are 5 oak leaves, thus he would have 11 oak leaves. Kind regards, Jacky
    15. wonderfull group too!! How comes that this group was with you while he probably wouldnt have sold it. Was it stolen from his house 20 years ago??? Did you get refunded? And much better did you have picturs of this handover?? I like such stories, they're just like fairytales Kind regards, Jacky p.s is the AirCrew Europe with clasp Battle of Britain or France & Germany or Atlantic??
    16. Absolutely fabulous!! DFC's AFC's etc etc I like the design of those awards! Wonderfull collection!! If you have any more, I would be really astonished! p.s Have you reribbonned and remounted them all?? Kind regards, Jacky
    17. wauw, My mouth goes watering... Any citation of his DSO?? Kind regards, Jacky
    18. Wow Paul, Do you happen to have somewhere a magic hat from where you draw the most beautifull bars??? Do you have a picture of this bar and it's receipment?? Kind regards Jacky
    19. Hi Paul, No one seems to know this order, but a little search on the internet gave his brother as a result; to be found at this site the ribbon appear something like the order of the dutch lion (netherlands) or the order of adolph of nassau (luxembourg) I couldn't find any more information on this order, no name, no further information. But I know that this order isn't one of the official orders, i.e. St Sylvester, St. George, etc Would like to know more. Kind regards, Jacky
    20. If I may bother you, I see quite often ranks with; Char. z D. a D. What do these abbreviations denote??? Kind regards and thanks in advance, Jacky
    21. If the information on wikipedia is correct; I would like to quote it: "The badge of the Order for the 1st to 4th classes was a gilt cross, similar in shape to the Iron Cross but with white enamel (except for the 4th Class, which was plain)." So the third class would have enamel, but the fourth class would be a plain silver cross. Kind regards, Jacky
    22. this way is the so called prussian mount style, which is also favoured by the dutch military to wear their medals. All medals would be sewn on a plate with between the plate and the medal itself a piece of ribbon folded around the backplate in a U shape. Personally, I prefer the English Court-mounted style, is beautifuller in my opinion. Kind regards, Jacky
    23. Commander was worn on a neckribbon And the grand officer had a breast star, and wore the badge on a sash. That's all folks. Kind regards, Jacky
    24. that gold part could be a bit strong.... You will have to look for gold / silver marks on the edges..... Kind regards, Jacky
    25. another hero recognised..... May he rest in peace.
