    1. You could place an advert in the Medal Tracker which is published in each issue of Medal News and also try the British Medal Forum. Will keep a look out and let you know if they ever surface. Simon
    2. David, The Medal Roll you require is listed on Ancestry, I have searched for your Man with no Trace at this time. Not sure if Officers would have been recorded on this Roll or some where else, If I find anything I'll let you know. Regards Simon.
    3. Hello Herman, Basically each Unit would have a Roll recording the details of each Man entitled to the relevant Campaign Award for that Regiment, in this case the Royal Fusiliers Roll B Sheet Number GS/8795 dated 26th April 1922 records the Men entitled to the British War Medal and Victory Medal within that Unit. Details recorded are Regimental Number, Name, In sequence Units and Corps previously served with and relevant Regimental Numbers, Theatre of War served in, Record of Disposal and Remarks. These Rolls are not always filled in completely and so with your Man we have his Number, Name and Units served in during the Great War and obviously the confirmation of his entitlement to the BWM and Victory Medal. I have had a look for his 1914 Star entitlement and this is recorded on the Roll for 2nd Battalion Queens Royal West Surrey Regiment which is undated but shows your Man as Number S317 L/Cpl Allington, with a date of disembarkation of 8th November 1914. This Roll also shows that on 11th August 1919 this Medal was despatched by post to Him. Hope this helps, Simon
    4. Bruce Have checked Ancestry but can find no record of this Medal, will see what else I can find though and get back to you. Simon
    5. Herman The award rolls for the Royal Fusiliers shows previous service as follows:- 2 RW Surr Reg Sgt 317 6 RW Surr Reg 1 RW Surr Reg 6 RW Surr Reg 45 R Fus. Regards Simon
    6. Tried to look through Clan Badges on line but couldn't find a match, with a bit of patience you should find it. All the best Simon
    7. Bruce, Have never used this resource myself but the link below should take you to the 1881 RN census and may have your Man listed http://www.britishmedals.us/resources/downloads.html Simon
    8. Excellent find, well done Sir! Simon
    9. An excellent photograph and lovely frame, well done on finding it and definately the Museums loss imho. Simon
    10. Not Military but a Scottish Clan Badge of some description I would think. Simon
    11. Hello there, Nice medal, the link below hopefully will take you to the National Archives records for your Man. There is a charge to view these documents I'm afraid but you should find what you are looking for there. http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/results/r?_fn=william&_ln=drover&_no=&_pl=&_sd=&_ed=&discoveryCustomSearch=true&_ser=ADM+139&_ser=ADM+188&_ser=ADM+363&_ser=ADM+362&_col=200&_hb=tna All the best Simon .
    12. Never knew that but have seen those lugs many times before, thanks Mickey. Simon
    13. Eddie, Sorry only just seen this post, Seems odd to me that someone would qualify as a Pilot and have a Trade shown as Clerk, will have a dig round and see what I can find out (if anything!) All the best Simon
    14. Gareth, As you have found there are not a great many online records regarding WW2 service due to time limits imposed for the release of records. I believe that as a direct descendant of your Grandfather you can apply for his Service Record via the MOD here in Britain and this will obviously carry a cost. Try posting your enquiry on the British Medal Forum if you get no other replies, they should be able to assist. Sorry can't be more helpful, Simon
    15. Something similar currently listed on Ebay to the Greek Army http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Greek-Military-WW2-Rare-Embroidered-Cloth-Badge-SHH-/371925864276?hash=item5698824f54:g:oDYAAOSw3ZRY-PDt Simon
    16. Surely the uniform to Reid-Daly will be will be a much sought after item for Unit Collectors, a very famous Man within the Selous Scouts I understand. Simon
    17. Absolutely Mike, close up of the shoulder titles may give an exact unit identification. Regards Simon
    18. Well that is some collection! Are the wings and uniforms attributable to individual Men? Simon
    19. Do you think that's the same Man, no sure myself, will take another look. Simon Take a look at 4.28, that is the Man with the medal bar and if you continue to watch the second Man with the single medal marches past! Doesn't assist us in ID but infact makes things worse, 2 QM'S...unlikely! Odd! Simon
    20. Have to say that I have been unable to work this one out. As you say the shape of the plume is unusual and not the shape normally associated with Quartermasters. One thing of note is the lack of Medals being worn by the Man in question, surely anyone of Quartermaster Rank would have to have a great deal of service and surely would have a fair medal bar. Will seek advice from a couple of ex Donkey Wallopers I know and see what I can find out Simon
    21. Sapper, Have checked my references and have to say I am none the wiser, sorry Sean Simon
    22. James Not my field of collecting but I am sure someone will be interested, this Unit appears to have a big following in the collectors world and having checked various sites appears to sell quickly when listed. Perhaps you could show some of the items in a relevant thread to gain Members interest. I would certainly like to see original examples. All the Best, Simon. Sorry Peter, Must have been typing at the same time! Simon.
