    1. Nice photo. Looking at his tie and pants I would suggest the guy at right is wearing a tropical uniform worn by those serving in Afrika Korps and Italy etc. Cheers, Larry
    2. Great idea for a thread. I have a few to add, some may have already been posted in different threads but are relevant here. I will try to ID the different branches or organisations in this photo. L - R: Army, Hitler Youth, Political Leader, SS or looking at sleeve band could be SD, Political Leader, Army, Diplomatic Corps, Kreis Leader, SA or NSKK. Cheers, Larry Family portrait with Mothers Cross in wear. Back row: Org. Todt and Hitler Youth. Cheers, Larry Panzer, Kriegsmarine, Luftwaffe. Cheers, Larry Two brothers, one Army the other German Red Cross.
    3. Wonderful photos indeed! Thanks for keeping this thread going. I have a nice Luftschutzpolizei photo arriving soon. Luftschutzpolizei replaced the SHD in 1942. Here is a bad scan. Will post better one when the photo arrives. Cheers, Larry
    4. Very nice photo with great details. Dust-covered Kradmelder wearing bayonet. Cheers, Larry
    5. Thanks for the information. I believe the "n" stands for Niedersachsen. Other organisations such as Deutsche Reichsbahn also wore the same Deutsche Wehrmacht armband while on active duty in enemy territory. Cheers, Larry
    6. Very nice photos on a subject not talked about much. I thought I would contribute this RAD wedding portrait. Cheers, Larry
    7. Nice photos showing insignia for summer uniform. Here is a photo of what looks to be three brothers, one is Panzer, one is Luftwaffe and the middle is a KM Obergefreiter with a Maschinist patch just visible. Cheers, Larry
    8. He does look a little young to be wearing the Hindenburg cross. Could he be wearing his father's HC ribbon? Good information here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Honour_Cross_of_the_World_War_1914/1918 There was a next-of-kin ribbon but the colours are in a different order. Cheers, Larry
    9. Nice Jock. 1 Stempelgeräte gefunden für Nummernstempel 17214 / Neue Suche nach exakter Nummer 17213 « 17214 » 17215 Feldpoststempel 1939-1945: 17214 Verwender: Postamt | Verwendung als: Aufgabestempel, Tagesstempel 1.9.1939-1.1.1940 Stab Bau-Bataillon 19. 2.1.1940-27.4.1940 Stab Festungs-Bau-Bataillon 19. 15.7.1942-24.1.1943 Stab mit Transport-Staffel Festungs-Bau-Bataillon 4, 73.9.1943 Stab mit Transport-Staffel Festungs-Pionier-Bataillon 4, 4.7.1944 Festungs-Pionierstab 4 Einsatz Osl 2.1.1945 Festungs-Pionierstab 26 Außenstelle Oslo. 10. Thanks guys! I agree with Laurence. Landzoll uniform with anchor buttons instead of RFV and crossed anchor cyphers on boards. Would the buttons be the same colour as KM ones? Cheers, Larry
    11. Thank you for your kind words. Here is another from my wedding portrait collection. I cannot see clearly what his trade insignia is because the surface texture of the photo makes it difficult to identify. Any ideas? cheers, Larry
    12. Maschinist plus Rohrmeister (Torpedo Tube Captain) specialty patch. Cheers, Larry
    13. Here is another portrait that is now in my collection. Top is Stab (Staff) patch Underneath is Kraftfahrlaufbahn (Driver/Motor Transport) patch. Under that is Gefreiter rank insignia. Cheers, Larry
    14. Thank you. Very nice photo Martin. Here is a Maschinistmaat portrait. Cheers, Larry
    15. Hi, Geschutzfuhrer is still my best guess. If you removed the out-of focus haze around the symbol it would look very similar to the Geschutzfuhrer symbol I have posted. Cheers, Larry
    16. Well, I certainly got the first guess wrong. could the arrowed insignia be Geschutzfuhrer? Insignia is blurred and distorted so it is hard to tell. Cheers, Larry
    17. Nice photo. The young man certainly had a lot of specialist trade badges. Could the top badge be for a Spielmann? (Band Leader/Drum/Fife). I have seen more than one variation of this badge. Here are two more types of Spielmann badges. The badge at left is from my personal collection. Cheers, Larry
    18. Very nice photos, especially the Torpedo Mechanic photo. Thanks for posting. Cheers, Larry
    19. Very nice photos. Twin brothers with same rank, MS badges and Funker badges. Were brothers allowed to serve on the same ship in the Kriegsmarine? Here is another from my collection. MS badge and wearing a Bootsmann trade badge. Cheers, Larry
    20. Thanks very much for the nice words. Writing on the back of the photo says: Ernst 1942. Here is another form the series. There is the date of 1943 on the back. He wears the EK2 ribbon and has been promoted to Obergefreiter. No trade specialty badge this time. Cheers, Larry
