    1. wtf is wrong with these auction guys, keep it together, omg. Great save btw glad to see it found a nice home
    2. Don't worry Paja, neither do I, I was very close to leaving it, but my mum insisted. this was a spur of the moment pick up, The medal has a very artistic presence in real life, that I fail to capture on this camera, it literally "pops out" of the medal at you. I don't condone the actions that the axis did in WW2 but it is good to remember so we can avoid it in the future. That is why we collect
    3. That is awesome, thank you so much Paja A round about number is great too it can't be that much more for Foreign recipients (maybe 1k max more) I know that most of the other orders had more foreign recipients for NDH medals and orders, depending on the services rendered to the NDH.
    4. By the box, this one is made by Roth and Neffe, but I know Roth has its own hallmark, it was never marked as such on these medals I beleive? and only the A is on there. (the A is on the circular part of the side of the medal can't remember which side) I've read on a really good site(that I can't find now!) that the Silver ones (for Roth) were very rarely hallmarked with the maker's marks on these specific Medals for the Red Cross. How low was the number for this Red Cross Civil minted in silver?
    5. Thank you all for the help Its great to hear, was freaked out it was something else I am so relieved How many of these were minted approximately, I know that during the start of the war Croatia minted them in silver and later on it was plated. This one is then a early war piece because of the silver? Igor
    6. Wow what an amazing group Unfortuantley I don't know Ed but I believe if Nick (JapanX) knows him he would be able to help
    7. It might take some time for some of the experts to reply (I believe one of them is on vacation) but it would be better to wait for 1, than have us other members who don't usually collect Turkey say the final word Sorry about not being able to help out but its a cool set so I had to stop by and say something
    8. There is a hallmark on the side of the medal itself Thank you so much Tifes . I think I know what I should be looking for in Austrian silver hallmarks but just in case, it should be something similar to Dianna's head (plus numbers for grade), are there any other marks that might denote silver? Edit: I've taken a look and it appears to be an A in a circle which just means it is made in Vienna Satisfied about having an original, but un-satisfied as it was sold to me as "silver" guaranteed lol oh well, lice and learn I guess It is interesting non the less, Thank you so much Tifes I don't think I'll ever have another opportunity to buy such a mint piece so it is definatley staying in my collection
    9. Thank you Auke I'll have to take a look at it closer, my new camera is giving me a bit of greef on the close up shots and my dad is borrowing my old one lol #2 CSM also has the U shape ring Edit: for the mint mark on #1 CSM it looks like 6 leafs connected to each other with the center have a Z or 2 in a circle. Connecting ring doesn't look cut.
    10. I've found this one today at our Militaria show, would you guys break the news to me, good or bad find? I'm Serbo-Croatian in my heritage and family history so I love that I was able to purchase this one Just not sure if its real or fake, there are a lot of fakes out there and I want to ask you guys, the experts on these medals It has what looks like silver hallmark on the side of the medal and either BK or SK on the hallmark on the upper ring Ring has BK Medal itself has a bird on the side (or Helmet, depends how you look at it) I'm assuming this is a silver hallmark? (click to expand Thank you all for any comments, it is greatly appreciated Igor
    11. Here are the newest additions to my collection How did I do? Order of the Red Banner Serial # 152,712 (long service) Combat Service Medals, #1 serial number 1,150,734 ( sorry for the bad quality picture, trying out new camera) #2 serial number: 2,172,751 Thank you for checking it out, any comments are appreciated. Igor
    12. Heres something similar, Patriae ac humanitati 1864-1914 Picked it up a couple months ago, not sure if it is what it claims to be Its in a paper case and on the reverse has Rothe and Naffe (in photos is more info) I was told it is silver and not bronze (as is the custom for usual medals of this type, a much rarer variant) Here are the photos:
    13. Ah cool never noticed anything below 100k
    14. I was under the impression that they started stamping numbers around the 100,000s
    15. The marks on the medal itself would only concern me if the medal or order was a higher degree (ie St. Anne) They had a slew of really high quality fakes around the 70s of those all with illegible markings. Nothing to worry about with this one
    16. Looks great Nice find Radmilo
    17. I have something similar that I'll have to post tomorrow
    18. As they say here in North America,Potato or Potato ? (two different pronounciations of the word, it is an expression) Still, cool
    19. Awesome Really great that he shared it with the community
    20. This is a 1/72 scale model that I made of a F-86F-30 "Mike's Bird" flown by Capt. Charles McSwain, Suwon (K-13), South Korea, 1953. It has a lot of work done on it, but I'll keep it short, in essence a year full of hard work to get it finished It is fully re-scribed (the entire aircraft's panel lines have been sanded and re-applied) and all the yellow/black Identification bands and markings were airbrushed along with the checker tail. I've put it on a base which displays a 1950s map of Korea. Since it is the 60th Anniversary of the Korean War Armistice this year, I wanted to complete it and add it to my collection in honor of the 60th. Thank you for looking in
    21. Fantastic turn out really love the different shading to the Uniform and hat
    22. It would be interesting to see a map depicting the route through the Yalu River (where most of the air combat in the Korean war occurred) as well as some Military bases that are near the Yalu. It really depends how you could do the image. Either a full North/South Korea image with info. or a image depicting the Yalu River, and some of the closest air combat and airbases Would be interesting sorry for the delay in posting been very busy with school
    23. Please post anything related those are fantastic videos Radmilo Thank you, we can see the progression for wear on the uniforms in them and what a fantastic event those were. Here is what I think is Pukovnik Peronja's Obituary, found it online, I've edited it to remove any mention of family names etc, minus the ones we already have above in his documents. Here is the obituary, I think this is him: Translation for the text: With sad news we are informing friends and beloved ones that on the following day : 27.IX.2007 , our loved one left us. He is buried in the Jelsa cemetery. He leaves behind (not a literal translation but the best I can do compared to the English phrase): is his wife -----(blocked off name) and other loved family members Rest in God's Peace. ---------------------------------------------------- That is all I have found for him currently, I'll try tracking down a couple other things, if anyone can help me find anything would you please be willing to pm me? I would like to find out more history about him. Rest in Peace Pukovnik Peronja
