Here's the picture I promised of the laquered cross. Can't seem to get the camera to show the laquering effect on this cross. It is however very finely sheened and it appears period. You can just make out a bit of reflection on the picture.

This is the reverse of a pocket watch I own. The inscription is similar to the urkunde of Ltn Sheidt. It reads, "Fur tapferkeit beim patroliengang, Unteroff K Sell, R.I.R 74. 1 Dez 1918". Could this possibly have been awarded for similar action?
I still have pictures of a lovely Godet sidehook I used to own, I won't post them though as the cross now belongs to a friend and fellow forum member. I'm sure we can tempt him out of the woodwork with it!!!! You know who you are
