JFS Grade IV (75) GAB.
Jock Auld replied to big ned's topic in Germany: Third Reich: Wehrmacht Medals, Decorations & Awards
Ned, I am still a cheap skate and worry about spending more than a crate of beer on a hobby. Only a load of junk this week end badge wise but I tend to steer clear as the copies are getting too good regardsless of all the publications that seem to be spewing out these days. Who to trust when most have a vested interest? I don't think you care about getting your money back and do this for the history Ned? Jock -

Ned, Nice looking badge, did it cost you your soul? Jock -
Chis, These were from an attic in Falingbostel near where Stalag XIB was at Örbke. I have asked Kev the curator of the local museum what he thinks and he stated that some of the veterans that visit anually had worn these as replacements for their issue boots, in fact one of the guys marched 900Km from the East in them and lost 2 toes in the process. he thinks as you that they were an economy effort for non essential folk.

Uwe, Thanks for your assistance, sorry for the delay but I have been having a spot of trouble replying due to the upgrade, Thanks again! -
Guys, I understand from WRF that this buckle is modified from a sports or some other sort of buckle no doubt bought in bulk and very cheaply by some clever bloke. The original was by C&O and an unknown firm has modified an existing buckle to resell to the military, made by the lowest bidder? The new round device is very high detail and quite chunky.
