Netherlands Order of Orange Nassau (The Netherlands)
saxcob replied to OvBacon's topic in Northern European & Baltic States
Thank you Odulf, I have taken your advice and just ordered it. I do already own his book on Luxembourg. I understand that the author is active on GMIC so maybe he might consider enlightening us? -
Netherlands Order of Orange Nassau (The Netherlands)

Thank you, Odulf! The recipient received the award in 1931. The Begeer marks look somehow different to me: http://university.langantiques.com/index.php/Begeer,_C.J._Jewelry_Maker's_Mark Someone suggested it could be the year letter "B" but to me these also have a differrrent appearance. -

Could someone be so kind as to identify the (maker’s?) mark on this officer’s cross of the Order of Orange-Nassau for me? It looks like “(.B.)” to me. -

saxcob replied to Yankee's topic in Northern European & Baltic States
Thanks, Pieter! However, these seem to be larger than the "normal size" miniatures. As you can see, such a model would not really fit... -

The term "coins and medals" does in this context indeed only refer to numismatic items and not to awards or decorations. Otherwise they would speak of "orders and medals".

A huge re-enactment of the Battle of Waterloo took place in the same Belgian fields where Napoleon's army was defeated, 200 years ago. Though I could not see a single of the 7.000 Nassauers, the allies managed to win without them. See some pictures attached.

Actually there were more than 7.000 Nassauers (193 officers and 6.832 men) at Waterloo.
