That are great pieces, everyone. Chris, the hammer and the gear makes it IMO definately a workers cigarette case. I find, as you more often find military ones, this one is at least as desirable as a military example. But i have a question myself to the more knowledgable than me: Could it be, that there were cases, where cigarette cases were awarded to workers? Gerd

Paul, i guess, it will be interesting in every case, as you get to know the man(or woman) behind this order a little and what he or she got it for. I really doubt, it turns out to be boring or not interesting. If it were mine, i would research it for sure. It adds a little to the worth of the order, but you probably won?t be able to get your costs for the research back later. Paul, i heard, Rick does not date Screwback Red Banners anymore, as he had a short, but bitter relationship with one about 5 years ago and he still is not over it I hope, Rick won?t mind, that i add my two cents. I have these in my database: 67.732 05.06.1943 68.315 13.04.1943 74.111 27.08.1943 So yours should be definatley from somewhere Mid 1943. best, Gerd

But still interesting: Award Citation for the Order of the Red Star AWARD SHEET For Vladimir Vasilevich Lykov, Chief Engineer, 204th Rifle Regiment (10th Rifle Division, 23rd Army, Leningrad Front) Birthyear: 1913 Nationality: Russian Social Status: Office Worker Party membership: since 1942 Time in RKKA: since 27 June 1940 Participation in civil war: n/a Wounds or contusions: wounded in 1942 Previous awards: Defense of Leningrad Medal Home of record: Esentuki, Lermontov St. Bldg. 102/a Short description of personal combat feat or service Captain Lykov has been in the 204th Rifle Regiment since August 1942. During this time he has directed all his energy toward constructing a solid, impenetrable defense. Thus, in a short period the minefields were extended to 100 meters in the defensive sector near Black Lake and the wire obstacles were increased from two to (missing) along the entire sector of the regiment?s defense. (missing) the minimum of fortification structures by 300%. As a result, while employing several attempts with groups as large as a platoon (missing) on the lead edge, the Finns encountered well-prepared (mine?) fields, containing properly emplaced engineer obstacles, and retreated. As far as i know, all Type 1?s were made from the Moscow Artists Collaborarive and the Type 2?s were all made at the Moscow Mint. Gerd

Nice photos. I have a question: When someone held the Red Eagle Order 3rd class with crown and bow, does that mean, that he had the 4th class also with crown? If he had the 4th class and gets the 3rd class with crown, does he get a bow too? Gerd

In an answerletter of the turkish Naval Ministery from the 15.December 1332(???What does this date mean???)(28.
