    1. oooooh-looks very early and nice!!! GREAT catch! Perhaps one for the JOMSA addendum article? (If there ever is one)
    2. ...speaking of the Chris Boonzair Iron Cross hypothesis: from "Feldgrau : 1916" pp. 90 "Das Eiserne Kreuz 1. und 2. klasse und Grosskreuz ist am 5. August 1914 erneunt gestiftet. 2. klasse, schwarzes Band mit weisser Einfassung fur Verdeinste auf dem Kreigschauplatz oder besondere militarische verdienste in der heimat. Weisses Band mit schwarzer Einfassung fur daheim erworbene Verdienste."
    3. In looking through my Medics photos for Legionnaire B's site thread, I noticed that I had a couple that had the oval sleeve badge on them. I vaguely recall thinking these were established @ 1916 but in looking at my reference materials I can not find when or what they were. They show up, are mentioned casually here and there, but I can't find a chart or listing of them. I know there was a MG badge and a signals one and I think this astulapstab abzeichen means veterinarians/medics section,-but are there any others? I'd be grateful for any information. Ta,
    4. Very cool! Someone who worked hard and got rewarded. F.Scott Fitzgerald said it well- Great group.
    5. Ah-hem...-shouldn't there be a ribbon bar on that uniform? ...he typed hopefully....
    6. Apparently the war medals' regs have been stretched a bit recently.... Check out this interesting thread over at the OMSA site: http://www.omsa.org/forums/showthread.php?...sted=1#post9615
    7. According to the OMSA website the Alaskan National Guard also recognize it. I am 99.9% certain that the Utah National Guard also allows it....and there's a well founded rumor that New Hampshire and Maine are considering it.
    8. Any of the commemoratives have been recognized by 3 or 4 different Guard associations. Several more are reviewing it.
    9. Not French- the Rumanian war cross, given to Rumanian troops for being savagely thrashed by the Kaisers' troops in a rather speedy campaign(s). The resulting cornucopia of captured raw materials allowed the Central Powers to keep going for at least one more year of warfare.
    10. Dead to rights you are Henry! Small world. I must ask though-what was the SS/DRK gathering on pg. 249?
    11. Gordon: Is this the chap who was the subject of your article in Antique Arms and Militeria so many years ago? It's the reason i started collecting.
    12. Oh I mean DRL. Looking closely I note that most seem to have had the swaz. removed.
    13. wicked cool!!! I think in the Munkasor photos that Hunyadi posted these badges are exactly the ones worn by Munkasor leader types. GREAT find.
