    1. That is a beauty and one I would love to have in my collection. Congratulations on acquiring such a fine piece!
    2. I have never seen the Oldenburg ribbon with a black wreath on it. My first impression is that it can't be identified.
    3. Any help on this? What is written on the back?
    4. I once had a friend tell me you invest in the stock market and collect for the fun of it. That is what I do. However once in a while I will buy something for my collection because I think it is a good investment. I usually don't make any money on it. I think if one got into the hobby 30-40 years ago and bought wisely they could make money if they sold now. For example a near mint 1939 Iron Cross first class in a case could have been purchased 15 years ago for under $200, they now sell for near $400 the last time I checked.
    5. In Rick Lundstrom's collection are about 50 photographs with writing on the back. They all have some type of "official" stamp. I cannot determine what they are and where they came from or if they have any value. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. Oh, by the way Rick's Soviet collection will be sold at auction by Christian Lehrle of Bene Merenti Auctions. The time is to be determined.
    6. Thanks for posting this. It is very interesting.
    7. Daniel, That makes sense as I don't believe that man was in the party prior to 1933. Now it is a matter of try to find a bar just like it. Thanks.
    8. Rick's transcription of the rolls was published. According to Rick there are no award rolls for the cross for true service, only receipts from the awardee.
    9. The below pic is of a ribbon bar to a Police officer from the 1930's. He served in WWI but spent most of his time as a POW. I can not ID the second to last ribbon on the right which is next two the faithful service ribbon. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
    10. What is also interesting is what is NOT on the bar i.e. Red Eagle Order, Crown Order or any WWI German decoration besides the EK2. This guy was either a very low preforming officers or a General with high orders around the neck.
    11. This maybe a hard one. I am writing a story for my next book about a Lt. Robert Logan, USMC, born 1919 in Troon, Scotland, who died in 1944 in a plane crash. He father James Logan, born February 13, 1886 in Scotland. I believed that James Logan live in Troon when the war began in 1914. He would have been 28 and married to a Ruth Logan and without children. I hope this is enough information to determine if he served during WWI. If he did I would like to know his when he entered service, his unit, was he wounded and what engagements he fought in. If I can nail this down it will be a great introduction to the story of Robert Logan. Thanks in advance for any assistance.
    12. I have created a PDF with scans of the remaining ribbon bars that are for sale. If anyone is interested send me a message with your email address and I'll send it to you.
    13. The results are now up. The auction was a great success. 79 items were listed and only 5 minor items did not sell. My hat goes off the Bene Merenti Auctions and Christian Lehrle. He did a great job. I can not recommend Bene Merenti Auctions strong enough if you want to sell something. Christian's customer service was fantastic.
    14. Would someone please identify the branch of service, rank and period of the below uniform? Also would someone post a picture of the correct visor cap for the uniform. Thanks.
    15. Dave, I am going to get the book and look forward to it. I know the research that went into it and you are to be commended. Great job.
