    1. The pic is of a plaque on a memorial to partisan and my great aunt in the Ukraine. The was able to scan from a picture the plaque. I know it is hard to see but can anyone provide any information from it? Thanks for the help.
    2. The case looks to modern to me. I have never seen a single ribbon in a case. I think the case is for a modern single medal on a ribbon with the pin attachment going in the recess. Just my opinion.
    3. Althought this looks like an officer's bar could it be that it is for an enlisted me who got bumped to officer during the war and maybe received the enlisted man's PLM. I think the EM PLM is on a EK ribbon. There are at least 4 decorations that use the EK ribbon when awarded for combat, RAO, HOH, EK and EM PLM. The middle ribbon looks that the Wurttemberg Frederick Order but it could be a faded service ribbon. Of course the medals would be all out of order.
    4. I don't like the way the spike and eagle do not match the chinstrap. I opinion is when in doubt - don't. If you can return the item I would.
    5. I am very new to soviet medals. My main area of interest Imperial German medal and ribbon bars. One of the reasons I like Imperial bars is because of the research possibilities. I have noticed that many of the high soviet orders and decorations have a serial number on the back. My question is how hard or easy is it to use this number to research the person who received the order?
    6. Dan. Not just Patton but everyone seemed to hate the Soviets, except my Grandfather. He hated the Czar and church! I wish I could have known him. It will be interested to find out my families wartime information. I do know that my GreatAunt was a partisan and was killed by the Germans. One of her sons survived and became a Soviet Pilot in the 1950's.
    7. OK You have convinced me. I will buy a copy. I am new to Soviet awards but an education is always the first step. I also want to be able to evaluate what awards my relative in the Ukraine have.
    8. This maybe helpful for a backing plate: http://cgi.ebay.de/Ordensspange-10-er_W0QQ...1QQcmdZViewItem
    9. Could the third ribbon from the left be the Finnish Medal for Bravery (Tapferkeit) in Fighting the Soviets in 1939? Here is a picture.
    10. I know some of the ribbon but others I don't. The third ribbon from the left one expecially lost on. Whould some be so kind as to id the ribbons?
    11. I saw an imperial medal bar with a EM 15 year cross and a 25 year officer cross. The officer cross was first. There where other medals on the bar. I was unable to get a pic as it was at a show. Is this combination possible?
    12. I agree with Dan. That is a heck of alot to ask for! You need to ranklists to look this information up. The WWI German Ranklists are available on CD. PM me if you are interested in getting this information.
    13. I check ed my 1901 Navy RL and I find 1 Drieling with the FW3 medal who was stationed on the Otter wehcih I think is a river gun boat. Hope this help. According to the attached article the SMS Otter was in China waters prior to WWI. http://www.feldgrau.com/articles.php?ID=11
    14. Actually there is no reason to spend the money to by the catalogue. He does provide a PDF file of the catalogue which is good. Save your money for the bidding, you'll need it.
    15. As I mentioned above I will not be doing the H&S book as my next project. I am considering put 4 TR Navy RL on CD.
    16. Marshal, I think they can be sold at the opening bid price, but the best thing to do is call Mr. Theis. At worst you can make a offer on the item.
    17. I just purchased a circa 1975-80 Soviet 1 star Army general's tunic. I would like to find a peaked cap to match. Does anyone have a picture of what I should be looking for? Thanks.
    18. Everyones point is very well stated. I seem to be in a gray area when it comes to the H&S book. While I think it would be a benefit to the collecting community to have the book on CD I do not want to be run into copyright issues. Also if someone living owns the copyright then it would not be right. For this reason I will not put the H&S book on CD. I really apprecaite everyone's comments and help.
    19. While I totally agree that a CD can not replace a book, I have to state that the cost of a ranklist library is very expensive. The Navy Honor Ranklist only sells for over 200 euros. Some of the Saxon and Bayern ranklists are darn near impossible to find. I have been very luckly over the last 2 years to have acquired most of my library. I would estimate that to buy a research library for WWI German Army and Navy Officers would exceed $2000. This is the main reason I have done the ranklists on CD. As we all know that typeset of the ranklists is old German fractur (I am sure I did not spell that correctly). Due to this fact it is not possible to scan a ranklist into Adobe PDF format and have it searchable. The technology is not there. If it was I would do it. The sales of my ranklists on CD have been OK but not to the level that I had hoped. Volume 1 did rather well but the DOA and Volume 2 sales are very slow. Due to this fact I may not proceed with my next step which was to develop a website that would offer ranklists individually. For example you would be able to order on CD just a 1890 Prussian Army Ranklist or a 1851 Saxon Army Ranklist. The cost per ranklist would start at 20 euros. I think part of the problem is that there are not many researchers. I must thank everyone that has supported my project!!! I greatly appreciate your orders. Please provide any feedback on what you would like to see next from Ranklist on CD.
    20. Wild Card, a very interesting point about the clay casting. The attached pic seems to bear that out. It seems like do a translation or a re-print of the H&S book will create more headaches then it is worth. I think the best alternative is to do a CD copy. I just have to determine if it makes financial sense to do it.
