    1. Thanks Rick for the info. First time I see this photo I thought he belonged to IR Nr. 105. But after reading Saxon rolls, I found only 45 officers name who received the SH3. No one with Rolf and I found one name ; Kurt Renner. That's all. About the second unknown name here is the photo :

    6. Hi, For the moment I find some orders : SV1X, 28.8.1916 SA1X, 31.10.1914 SH3, 13.6.1917 X zum RAO2. Kl mit Krone und Stern mit X BMVO2Kl mit X und Tern m. X, 24.11.1914 Of course he received both iron crosses. I found nothing in the Saxon Duchies and Saxe Weimar rolls. Regards Christophe

The division was formed in April 1941 and served in the occupation of France until being mauled in the Normandy invasion zone in the summer of 1944. In January 1944 GR 731?s Ist Battalion had been replaced by the 781st ?Turkish? Battalion. On 1 July 1944 that was in turn replaced by the 831st ?Northern Caucasus? Battalion of ?Eastern Volunteers.? Pulled out of action and reformed in Holland, In December 1944 the 711th Infantry Division was sent to Hungary, and remained in heavy action against the Soviets until surrendering near Prague at war?s end."
